Wildblue, you would love Alt Nation (channel 21) on Sirius. You just described an average hour's playlist.
For working out, I just rehash the same old stuff I've owned for years. I get my new music fix through the sat radio. I did buy some stuff off the new Jimmy Eat World the other day.
I guess my recent five would be:
1. Old crap nobody wants to hear about
2. Jimmy Eat World
3. Sick Puppies
4. Paramore
5. Army of Me

Someone I know from another forum has his own radio site. He plays alot of Japanese music from Anime movies, and he mixes in alot of other different stuff. Thats usually what I listen to when I'm online. it was hard when I had dial up, but much, much better now. They have some very interesting music in Japan.
Like right now is: Nobuo Uematsu- Moment of truth, from Final Fantasy X- original soundtrack

Thanks to them having a playable song included in my new Rock Band game, I've been checking out some stuff from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I heard a song from them last year (Gold Lion) on Alt Nation, but didn't care for it.

I got "Neon Bible" by Arcade Fire for Xmas. It hasn't grown on me much, yet. Many of my favorite albums require a few listens, though, before they take root in my brain and drive me absolutely insane. :-) So I'll give it a few more plays before passing judgment.
I also received "Set Yourself on Fire" by Stars, which I'd heard before, and I'm enjoying it massively. Their sound reminds me of Death Cab for Cutie, or (more accurately) The Postal Service, if you mixed in the lush instrumentation of a band like Arcade Fire, or maybe a little Sufjan Stevens (dorky and orchestral, but very very cool). I highly recommend looking this CD up on Amazon to hear some song snippets if you enjoyed "Give Up" by Postal Service.

Hi everyone. Looks like this is where all the hipsters hang out.

I'm new to the forums, and thought this would be a good place to start!
My ipod was stolen just last week, but before that disaster, this was most frequently on the playlist:
-The National
-St. Vincent
-The Beatles
-Silversun Pickups
-Franz Ferdinand
-LCD Soundsystem
-The Arcade Fire
Was there a limit for how many to put? Oops...

I got an iPod nano for Christmas.

I've loaded my favorites first: Prince, Manson, old Korn, Zombie, Zeppelin, Alice in Chains and Pet Shop Boys so far. I've got a lot more to go but it gets so tiresome loading songs.
Right this second I'm listening to Absolutely Fabulous. Because I'm absolutely fabulous, of course.
Shut up, Patton.

Haha, I'm getting hit up by flood control posting twice in a row!
She's kind of a Fiona Apple, Rachel Yamigata, Tori Amos mash-up. She has a very old fashioned sound, almost like Billie Holiday's sound. Lots of piano. So there you go.

Welcome portmanteau! We listen to a lot of the same stuff. I'll have to give St. Vincent a listen.
Clevername, I feel the same way about "Neon Bible"--maybe it hasn't grown on me simply because I loved "Funeral" so much. I agree with you--I'll have to give it a few more plays.

I have 3 of her cd's. ones a double. I want to get the rest of her library some time. Love her music. She can actually give live concerts. Unlike Enya who uses so much synth and over lays of her own voice that she can't/ won't give live concerts.
