Two state agencies have threatened to halt new development in Jefferson County if the county fails to upgrade its sewage treatment system.

I read this in the paper yesterday.

So lets see if I have this right. If the sewage treatment system isn't upgraded, new development will have to be stopped. Hmmm.......well, if that's the only way we will be able to stop all the growth, I say leave the sewage system the way it is. wink.gif

Guess who is going to pay for that "NEW" sewage treatment plant? The good old tax payer thats who. Let me get this straight, they said sewer treatment system as a whole not just the plant, correct? Well, if thats the case I hope the residents of Jefferson.Co don't go through what the residents of Winchester,Va did. They "Upgraded" the sewer lines in some sections of town and peoples toilets backed up and actually spilled raw sewage back into these peoples homes. Some houses actually had to be vacated until they cleaned up the whole mess. Cost the City of Winchester millions more than projected because of people sueing!

Ugh, makes me glad to be a Martinsburgian. Shouldn't the state have to help with the system?

Glad I have a septic system. wink.gif I'm surprised the builders didn't threaten to build their own plant just so they could build. dry.gif
