My wife, daughter and I went to Mr. D's Wings, Rib, Sandwiches last night for dinner.
To say I was impressed by the place is an understatement...
It is clean, and the food was fantastic.
The owner and his wife made it a point to make sure we were happy.
I am a hot wing junkie and never seem to be pleased with what most places call hot... I told the young lady at the counter that if I did not break into a sweat the sauce is not hot enough..
The owner cam out with a small spoon of the sauce for me to try... YUP definitely way up there on my acceptance level for hot with out burning... fantastic heat and flavor.
I will warn you however, that even the mild sauce has heat in it... too much for my daughter, but their BBQ sauce was fantastic... great taste and nice and smoky... my daughter loved it...
The wings are big... I mean real big and meaty... the normal order is 10 wings for $6.95 and you have a choice of about 8 different sauces... from BBQ to "I ain't even going to try that one hot"
Marco the owner, makes all the sauces from fresh peppers and also sells the sauces and salsas he makes...
My wife had the 1/2 pound burger and said it was fantastic... the fries are also great...
I opted for the Gyro sandwich and was extremely pleased... tasted just like the ones I used to get at the good Greek delis when I lived in NY
My daughter had an order of wings with BBQ sauce on the side and could not finish them....

The owners wife came out with a sample of one of the mild salsas and some chips for us to try and it was great...
She also gave us one of the specialties they make... it is a spicy dark chocolate bark with nuts.... enough spice so you know it's there, but then tempered by the chocolate... real interesting and tasty.

When we left, my daughter said we are definitely going back and I could not agree more... there are too many things on the menu I need to try...
When you go in, you order at the counter and they deliver to the table... as I said the servings were good size. I had trouble finishing all I had...

Okay, you had me at "Gyro". And when you compare it to the one's served in the Greek deli's in NY, I'm doubly impressed.

Putting that place at the top of my "must try" list.

Yoss, I am born and raised in NY and did not get the way I am by looking at food...
That Gyro was fantastic and it comes with two nice pieces of great Feta cheese on the side.... the sauce was perfectly spiced and the pita was well filled with meat...
And what is more surprising is the owner is not Greek, but Italian... not that I am complaining... wink.gif laugh.gif
Next thing to judge is the Reuben, his wife told me he makes his own sauerkraut and the corned beef is fresh cooked in house, not packaged like some places
SMan
I'll be trying this place, maybe as soon as the weekend. I've heard several good reviews.

Fresh saurkraut? Stop it Griz... stop it right now... biggrin.gif

There used to be a place in Baltimore called "Crazy Johns", that had absolutely the BEST Gyro I've ever had. They had the Gyro meat on a spit vertical rotisserie and would lop off huge slices of it to put on a freshly lightly grilled pita, with their homemade cucumber sauce and then load up the already over stuffed pita with raw onions, tomato and lettuce. They didn't charge for the extra grease either.

And I'm still looking for great ribs... sounds like this place has potential!

It's still there... or was this summer... on the block, right?

I may have to check out Mr. D's tonight... thanks Griz.

I'm hooked. Mr. D's has great wings, great ribs, good fries and cute girls working the counter. What more could you ask for?

I tried the spicy garlic sauce and the tequila beer medium. they were spectacular.
Idiot
Is it across the street from Fedex?
SMan
Yeah. I believe it's called the South Pointe shopping center.
