I really wanted to go back to Duffys but not sure if will be going back. After they raised the price to $125 and took the all you can eat and drink away I want to see what everyone else is doing. According to Kid it is limited beer and wine that is all you can drink.

Spoke to the guys at New Deminsions and they stated $25.00 to get in 3 bands, DJ, Magician, dinner buffett and breakfast buffett after midnight. Drinks regular price.

Waynesboro County Club $125 a person all you can eat and drink and limo ride to and from your home. Limo ride even if you live in Hagerstown.

So what is everyone else doing????

Wanted to go to Kauhnas to see Funny Money but will probably save some money and stay home and invite some friends over. I really dont like going out on that night.

I`m staying home. It`s just another day.

About 5 years ago, I came to that same realization. I do usually have dinner with family or something early, but I'm usually asleep by midnight.

We stay home and have the family over. Shrimp and fondue night.

I'd LOVE to go out and get wasted, dance with abandon and kiss some strange guy at midnight (Oh, wait, I already DO that - hubby's a bit strange), but since the kids, we've spent our New Years Eve watching videos, drinking grape juice out of a wine-shaped bottle and watching the "ball" drop with them.

The oldest is 22 and I'm hoping he goes out and has a blast this year. He got invited to go to NY to watch the ball drop in person, but I don't know if he's going.

The twins are 16, so we'll stay home and do the "responsible parent" thing again this year. Prolly get a bottle of champagne and drink it myself (hubby's illness prevents him from drinking alcohol), get a bit tipsy and let everyone laugh at ME!

Kids never seen me "drunk", and I'd like to keep it that way.

But WATCH OUT WORLD, the kids will be gone someday and Jelsey's gonna CUT LOOSE & PARTY like the good 'ol days!

Maybe one of the "fancier" hotels around?

I remember one year, my sister telling me that she went to LJ's with friends and had a blast. And the Ramada, I think it was, had a New Year's party and you could stay over night with the deal. We did that years ago. But, not sure if they still do that . But, worth looking into.

stay home...drink with the duck...party like it's 1969 or something...
peacefrog
We don't have anything set in stone yet, but probably a house party at someone's home. Bars are just too expensive this year... although Duffy's was a fun change last year. Most of my posse are a little light in the cash department right now, so we'll probably stick with a case of Miller Lite, some cheap wine and cheese/crackers in someone's basement. LOL

Besides, bars on New Year's Eve can sometimes be... annoying.

We are doing something new.

Since we both recently quit smoking (4 weeks today for me, no cheating this time), we decided to skip the family party. We are going to Massenutten Resort and play in the Indoor water park for a couple of days.

We went to LJ's last year and enjoyed ourselves very much. While it wasn't cheap, the food was excellent (as always), the atmosphere was sophisticated, and the several hour long multi-course event was planned to the last detail with the owner (Alex) checking everything that went out. What a great way to end one year and start the next! We noticed quite a few of the local movers and shakers present, too. If we don't do the same thing again this year, we'll probably just do something quiet with the family.

And congrats on the quitting smoking! Hang in there. It's been 12 years now for me.

Me and Jen wanted to make Duffy's a tradition, but alas, they've weeded out the trash, (eff y'all! We didn't even redeem our gift gags, bitch!). I'm trying to do something with my sigother. I'm thinkin' I may end up at mom's, with my bestest friend ever.

She always worries about me. wub.gif

Someone else was asking about places for New Years. I've been looking and I can't find anything listed. Is it being kept a secret?! It's only about 2 weeks away. blink.gif
Unbelieveable
My Husband, Son, & I stay home for New Years we have shrimp and a veggie platter. All three of us pick out two of our old time favorite movies and watch them as we chow down. This has been our tradition before our Son was born and now Richard is part of it. We stay up until midnight watch the ball fall go outside and bang pots and pans. Last year Richard feel asleep but before he did he made sure we would wake him to watch the ball fall and beat the pots and pans.

I LOVE traditions i hope our Son will do the same with his Family when he get's older.
