MARTINSBURG — A Martinsburg man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing Christmas stockings filled with toys and other items meant for needy children from the Salvation Army earlier this week.
Timothy Lynn Robinson Jr., 24, of West Martin Street, was charged with felony petit larceny second offense after allegedly taking five Christmas gift stockings as he was leaving the Salvation Army offices on Virginia Avenue in Martinsburg, according to Martinsburg police Patrolman Michael Usack, who investigated the case. Robinson was at the office to check on an application he filled out for a bell ringer’s position.
The stockings, which were later returned to to the Salvation Army by Robinson, contained various items, including underwear, socks, watches, toys and candy. They were valued at about $20 each.
