This is awesome, she should be awarded an honor by the president

THIS STORY EXEMPLIFIES GUN CONTROL AS IT SHOULD BE.

Shooting in Butte , Montana

Shotgun preteen vs. illegal alien Home Invaders; Butte Montana November 5th.

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems these crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11 -year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he had taken from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien of Pipestone, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

The sheriff said there were no charges pending against Patrica Harrington. In fact in this area she is looked upon as a role model.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS,PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news....

Now that is Gun Control:

My " Thought for the day"

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"

They got what they ask for. The first shot was right on target. Nice shooting Patricia.

Yes, children playing with guns... always a good thing. blink.gif

Four year-old shoots two year old brother

Twelve year-old shoots 6 year-old

Five year old shoots 3 year old

Three year old shoots and kills himself

Obviously in the article you listed, the girl saved herself and that's a great thing. However, the stories I listed above are only within the last MONTH of incidents where children got a hold of a gun and shot another child, if not shot themself. And you don't think there's a need for gun control? blink.gif

As it is, there are too many adults running around who should not be handling guns, let alone children.
Yossarian
The only thing I see wrong is this, is that it's a shame that an 11 year old had to take a life. Now she has to live with this the rest of her life. But at least she is alive.
WVDragonlady
I hate to think what they might have done to her had she not defended herself. And at least she was trained in the use of the weapon. I'm sure they have in therapy. At least I hope so.

This story is false. It's an Internet urban legend.

Personally any time I read a story about an 11-year old girl shooting some guy with a foreign sounding name in the genitals, I think it's fake. You should too.

Ouch.

And the worst part is that PHISH's stories aren't made up. sad.gif

Still missing why a properly trained person with a gun at ANY AGE is a bad thing. The problem where those children shot and killed others and or shot and killed themselves are the issues of POOR parenting not gun control.
hagopinion
Since that was legend here is fact. SO GOOD FOR THIS 17 year old for being armed and defending his life, his cousins life, and his home.

Teen shoots, kills 2 would-be robbers

02:46 PM CST on Thursday, December 28, 2006

From 11 News staff reports

An overnight home invasion robbery attempt in northeast Harris County ended in a hail of gunfire that left two suspects dead.

Investigators said a 17-year-old was home with his cousin when four armed men kicked in the door and started shooting.

The teen pulled out a shotgun of his own and fired back at the suspects, killing two of them.

Two other suspects were later caught.

The 17-year-old asked to not be identified.

“Truthfully, it was either them or me, regardless of who was on the other side of that door or whoever kicked my door down, it was either him or me,” he said. “I’m thankful to be standing here today. I thank god.”

Authorities said at this point they are not planning on filing charges against the teen.

That's good gun control -- a good guy or gal hits what he/she shoots at. cool.gif

Bad gun control is when people who do not understand the Constitution or common sense wanna take guns away from law abiding citizens because they can't be trusted to own guns. I assume that any day now they'll wanna ban cars because some people can't use them responsibly and people, sometimes children, die as a result.

So do you think 11 year olds, if they're properly trained, should be driving cars? Cars can kill people too, but as long as they take driving lessons, they should be OK right? huh.gif

Who has proposed a law that takes guns away from everyone?

Governor Ed Rendell (PA) proposed two PA laws. They include limiting handgun purchases to one per month and requiring owners to report whenever guns are lost or stolen.

Unfortunately, they did not pass. Why? I have no idea. Actually, I do. The nuts at the NRA were breathing down the neck of the politicians. However, the governor said the measures he proposed are aimed at protecting police officers and are not anti-hunter. Why the NRA are so psycho about their guns, I'll never know, especially when these measures could save the life of a police officer. Why does anybody need to purchase more than one gun per month? Is this some kind of necessity that I just am not getting?

Yes, because guns are just as necessary in day-to-day life, as cars are. rolleyes.gif

"So do you think 11 year olds, if they're properly trained, should be driving cars? Cars can kill people too, but as long as they take driving lessons, they should be OK right? huh.gif" If this were the law and an 11 year old could be properly trained I would have no issue with this at all. I think the key here is rather it is possible to be PROPERLY TRAINED and rather your size would allow you to control the vehicle. My definition of properly trained is not attending drivers ed either. More kids die by drowning in 5 gallon buckets so should we ban those also. NO of course not we should taser parents that don't know how to deal with their children.

You are absolutely correct no one needs to buy more than one gun a month. Actually that is not the fight at all, the real fight in not giving in to Anti-gun fanatics like yourself. Because if law abiding gun owners give an inch you will take a mile (or take all of my guns and my protection for my family). So you stick to the cops and don't buy guns, I will stick to defending myself. Trust me if I knew a parent that left guns around the house I would be the first to call CPS and the police. Again this is about bad parenting not gun ownership.

rolleyes.gif This argument holds no weight with me. And the pro-gun fanatics (such as yourself) present this argument all the time (see Snoopy's car vs. gun analogy above). People die from everyday things every day. Nobody here is saying ban anything and everything that you (or a child) come potentially die from. That's ludicrous. However, one approach to keeping the guns out of criminals' hands is to limit the accessibility of purchasing hand guns. Are you familiar with the term "straw purchase?" This is where someone purchases a gun for money, sells it to the criminal, and then reports it stolen so when the criminal commits a crime, the straw purchaser is off the hook. The gun laws that Rendell proposed would help control the number of straw purchases.

You can consider yourself lucky that you don't live in a town/city where people are shot on almost a daily basis. Maybe then you would see where my passion for gun control laws come from - Not because I'm an "anti-gun fanatic," but rather because the situation is really out of control.

Limiting handgun purchases to one a month won't have much of an impact.

As for the other law about reporting lost or stolen guns what would that do, you're telling us that that is whats happening now.

I've got an idea, how about just enforcing the laws that are on the books now.

I simply meant that you could say the same thing about any law...

"No law in the world is going to keep a rapist from raping."

"No law in the world is going to keep a child molester from molesting children."

Should we not have laws against raping and molesting children?

I'm not a gun-control advocate, I just don't think that it's a good argument.
Yossarian
Ah.. gotcha...

Good point.

But personally, I don't think we need any new gun control laws. There are already laws about how many guns you can buy in a period of time, and there are laws about buying guns for someone else (straw purchases). These laws are both federal and state.

What we need are less politicians making a name for themselves by introducing unnecessary legislation and more judges willing to impose maximum sentences on offenders. Oh, and less States' Attorneys willing to accept plea negotiations.

Seriously.................the good stuff never makes the general media because it just covers stuff that happens and does not necessarily prove a point that is being pushed by any major advertisers or lobbyists who are putting their money into the media.

And before anyone calls me a republican because I happen to be a Second Amendment Sister, let me just say that I agree that one gun a month is just fine for anyone who does not retail guns for a living and I do not let my sons (or daughters) play with toy guns. Kids need to learn that guns are tools, not toys, and when they are old enough, they will learn to be responsible with the tools. That's one thing I wish everyone in this population could learn and live.

If we replaced all guns with these water noodle things (below) the world would be a much safer and comical place. Don't you agree?

The problem is criminals don't have limited access to guns Phish, only people who follow the law do. Criminals bring cocaine in by the ton, they smuggle hundreds of people at a time and they can export stolen cars all without getting caught or having only a small minority caught. Do you honestly believe if you were to restrict guns they couldn't still get all of the guns they wanted?

It IS a different ball game. Very different. How many people get killed with stray joints every year? Seriously, as it sits, the only thing we can really do is educate the population to make better choices. Remember when the schools had drivers' ed? And how many people are killed each year in car accidents because of bad choices made by drivers? Probably more people than are killed by guns. (or people who have guns!) Was drivers' ed helpful? I thought it was. Perhaps if all of us would teach our kids what a final choice is all about instead of sheilding them so much and not talking to them about reality................just a thought, folks.
