It's in the old Sakura spot (before Sakura moved to the bigger place at the end).
They call their food "Asian Fusion," and the name of the restaurant is "Red Curry." I noticed Japanese (e.g. seaweed salad, miso soup), Thai (e.g. Pad Thai), and Indian (lots of curry dishes). There were also the traditional Chinese dishes (e.g. General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, etc.).
Both Hubby and I had traditional Chinese dishes.
Food was pretty good... lots of flavor and seemed to be quality ingredients. Overall, the portions were smaller than you'd get in a regular Chinese restaurant, and the prices were higher. Service was friendly without being overbearing. The atmosphere is really nice, good for a casual Friday date, I'd say. Not sure if they serve alcohol. We didn't see any, but they did have a wine rack... so maybe they're just waiting on a liquor license.
They also gave us a free dessert, but I don't know if that's usual or simply because they've only recently opened. The pot of hot tea was free, too.
Those in the area who crave Thai or Indian food (and have to drive to Frederick to get it) might enjoy this as a "holdover" until they can get to a real Thai or Indian restaurant.

WOO HOO! Peacefrog, you just made my week!!!! I'm so excited that there's Indian food in Hagerstown again. I'm one of those people who has had to resort to driving to Frederick for Indian food, ever since the Indian place at Days Inn on the Dual closed up. Too bad you didn't sample any Indian stuff. I'll be sure to post my opinion of the Chicken Tikka Masala after trying it out.
It's a shame I've already eaten or I'd drive over there right now. Or, would it really be that bad for me to eat two lunches today?

I don't think you'll find that dish on the menu... they only had a few dishes from each type of Asian cuisine (except Chinese). Just a couple of Japanese dishes, a couple of Thai dishes, etc. Seemed like their "Indian" dishes were just typical curried meals, like curried chicken or curried shrimp. But I'm not a big fan of Indian food and I just glanced at the menu, so there might have been dishes I missed.

Cool--another place I need to try! The Hagerstown area desperately needs a good Thai and a good Indian restaurant. I would kill for a place with good naan bread.

The Martin's on Wesel Blvd. sells pre-packaged naan now. It's back in front of the deli counter, with pita breads. It's good, but nothing beats fresh. I love to dunk it in that green sauce that's made with cilantro and peppers. mmmmm...

We finally went to Red Curry early on New Year's Eve and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. First off, the atmosphere is quite nice -- subdued lighting, nice fit-out, somewhat minimalist decor, good use of color on the walls. The place was dead, but probably that was because it was 5:00 or so. Service was very attentive without being overbearing. This is definitely NOT an Indian restaurant, not in the least. We had two appetizers -- the vegetable spring rolls (excellent) and something called "Shrimp Mermaids" I believe, which were whole shrimps wrapped in egg roll wrappers and deep fried until crispy. Hubby said they were great (I don't eat shellfish). I had the Red Curry Chicken as my entree and was actually pretty disappointed in it. It was pretty bland, and not the least bit Indian; I suppose it was Thai, but I haven't had enough Thai food to know for sure. And it tasted like it had no salt. My husband ordered Crispy Beef, and it was a little different than what you'd get in a Chinese restaurant, but not in a bad way. He shared it with me, and we both agreed that we'd order it again. We also had dessert, these deep-fried banana rolls with honey and whipped cream. Soooo tasty!
As far as drinks go, we just drank the free tea brought to us when we sat down, but I'm pretty sure that Peacefrog was right, that they do serve alcohol now. I think I saw a bar at the back of the place, behind a decorative screen.
We'll definitely go back. There were many interesting-sounding items on the menu, particularly in the soups, salads, and appetizers section. It was a shame that what I imagine they'd consider their "signature dish", i.e, the Red Curry entree, was so unexciting though. Oh well, it's impossible for every dish at a restaurant to be fantastic, in my opinion.

My S.O. and I had dinner at Red Curry just recently as well--it took us a while to get up the courage; everything that's been in that spot since Sakura left has been questionable. But we really ended up enjoying it! We got a curried duck dish, and when they brought it out, the waitress threw it all on a hot plate for much steaming and hissing and all that. Very cool.

We'll definately go back.

Red Curry is Thai not Indian. There are a few nice Chinese dishes and some Japanese dishes on the menu. Only good Thai in Hagerstown.

Red Curry restaurant - It is great to find this high quality but unassuming Asian restaurant - Red Curry - here in Hagerstown, because you normally would have to fly far away to find this quality of Thai food that they include on their menu. This cuisine features a mixture of 4 tastes in each dish -- salty, sweet, sour and spicy are the basic parts that merge together creating sensational taste. Combine this with the healthy ingredients, lean meats and shrimp, and stir fry type vegies, and this food is very healthful, too. Stir fry dishes feature garlic, chilies, herbs, lime, peanuts, and sauce that you'll savor.
For those new to this type of food, a basic dish to try is called Pad Thai. This Asian noodle dish includes peanuts, lime, chilies, bean sprouts, and a host of stir fry ingredients, and a sauce. Be sure to squirt the lime slices on the noodles just before eating, as this is a basic component of the dish - the tangy fresh lime. This is traditionally a spicy hot dish, so ask for mild spice your first time if you aren't sure how hot you can go. Be careful though, it is addictive. The Pad Thai at Red Curry is fantastic.
Be sure to give the Summer Rolls a try - they are healthful - not fried like the more traditional egg roll. At Red Curry they are a light wrap of rice noodles, sprouts, big shrimps, spring onion, and arrive with a plate of tasty sauce to dip into.
Red Curry's soup in the clay pot was delicious - great to eat on a cold day, as the soup stayed hot throughout the meal, due to its being served in a clay pot that holds the heat. Enough is brought out for two to share, ask for separate bowls and a ladle. It included a tasty clear broth, with a medley of chicken, onions, long rice noodles, and a variety of vegies and some tofu.
I hope that people discover this wonderful new restaurant and try many dishes. The lunch specials are a great opportunity to explore this cuisine. Top off your meal with a Thai Iced Tea, a blend of tea with coconut milk - very good!
For those of you who have already experienced this type of cuisine and enjoy it, I know you will love this restaurant.
In addition to the great food, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant is cozy.
