My wife and I ate at Bombay Grill on market st. in Frederick sunday night. An Indian place with the usual vindaloo, masala, curry dishes. To us it wasnt better than "Passage to India" that used to be in the Holiday Inn but it was good. Since there arent any Indian places in H-town we will be heading there again since its only a 20 minute drive.

On another note...the Olive Garden. We didnt eat there but have to say this. Anyone walking between the mall parking lot and the restaurant please be careful. Many people using that x-walk almost got creamed. Since cars will stop to turn left to go down the aisles by the Garden, other drivers seem to get pissed off having to wait for the cars to turn, dump the clutch swerve over into the other lane and take off. We watched 2 families just within 5 minutes almost get creamed. There was also a fender bender there...we saw all this in the very short time we were in the mall area.

Is there even a crosswalk there? I used to get the cars serviced at Sears and I remember how dangerous it was sometimes to walk from the Sears service center and the mall. I don't remember any crosswalks. Hagerstown is a very unfriendly place for walking. Technically, the mall is in Halfway, but you get what I mean.

Dirk, I've been a long-time fan of Bombay Grill in Frederick. Try their weekday lunch buffet if you have the opportunity. They offer many selections of hot dishes (veg and non-veg), rice of course, some of their vegetable fritters, salad, rice pudding, and you get that wonderful basket of naan too. It's been awhile since I went but I believe it was in the $9.00 range per person, all you can eat. Well worth the drive! We like dinner there as well; I always get their chicken tikka masala.

I keep on hoping an Indian restaurant would go into the food court at the mall. I love Indian food, but my wife hates it. If it was in the mall, I could get Indian food and she could eat Subway or pizza. If the mall can support a place that sells warm and sticky fake Chinese food, why not an Indian restaurant?

Then again, this is the same mall that can't have a coffee place. sad.gif

I have the same problem, Bent. I love Indian food and hubby is just so-so on it. It would be good to have something at the mall. Could get my fill when I want without too much hassle of traveling.

The thing about it being in Frederick is that it's too far to even get it as take-home. It would be cold by the time I got it home and the car would smell like Indian food. Not that I'm even sure that would be a bad thing. smile.gif

The local mall back home in California has an Indian food place in the food court. It always seems like it gets a lot of business.

OMG laugh.gif laugh.gif -- it's like I'm RIGHT THERE in the Valley Mall food court. Thanks, Burn!

My other half isn't a huge Indian food fan, either. I never considered a food court Indian place, but it seems like a no-brainer. We've got enough folks up in this neck of the woods to support it, at least it sounds like it from these forums.

Bent, isn't there still a coffee kiosk in the Valley Mall food court? It's kind of out on its own, out in front of the Vitamin World. At least, there USED to be one there...

No, they shut it down. You can still get drip coffee in the mall if you go to the candy store located in the center entrance. They sell Green Mountain coffee.

havent heard that one... but there is a new starbucks in hagerstown... over by.... care to guess?? ... walmart and best buy and all that crap...
Yossarian
They're putting one over by the new Lowe's in Longmeadow too. In the old stone farm house that's there, from what I hear.

BTW, that new Lowe's is pretty nice. Cleaner than their other store, and it seems to be catering more to the consumer than the contractor.

Ah, the mythical Hagerstown Starbucks....for years it has been as elusive as Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster. Last weekend I was out that way and they had put the Starbucks signage up on the storefront, so it may actually open. Anyways, Sb's coffee is too bitter tasting to me.

I would to take a moment and thank all the ( T) new people who moved here from hell knows where. for bringing H/Town up to par with all the other (over crowed towns in our state. thank you for your conserns. (sarcastic? yep) tongue.gif
SMan
I would like to non-sarcastically thank them. I would get tired of only have the same handful of places to dine out or shop locally all the time.

The overcrowding does suck. What time do you have to go out to eat in this town to beat the rush on a weekend. I went to a chain restaurant Saturday at 4:30 and was told there would be a 30 minute wait. The place was packed....and the food is not even that good.

C'mon Mcgee even old H-town couldn't stay stuck in the 50's forever. Besides the mayor and county commissioners have done more to speed up progress than any of us transplants.

If you listen to them they would like the area to be overrun by transplants who are stupid enough to pay whatever tax hikes they can throw at them. You locals aren't any good to them. you already know all their sly tricks and wont put up with it.

Admit it those local politicians love seeing people with spendible income coming into their turf. Someone had to OK all those new houses and stores to be built.

I don't like their drip coffee. Them or Seattle's Best. I do like their espresso drinks. Keep in mind the only thing that makes a Venta different then a Grande is that the Venta has more milk. They both have the same amount of espresso shots.

My hope is that they open at 6am. I drive past it every morning on my way to work and it would be nice to grab a coffee from there instead of Dunkin's. The one on Pennsylvania Ave. can be a real pain. They are always trying to do the up-sale.

AH Haahaaa haaa.

Your right Samyo we know there next moved before they do. Iwas just cranking things up in here a little bit. Glad to see you all are happy with the new things you brought us. But I DON`T HAVE TO LIKE IT. biggrin.gif If you see me out in any of those resturants. It wasn`t my idea. I just don`t care for other countrys foods. Or over priced food that I can cook at home alot cheaper. I hate waiting in line.

Are they? All they are doing is annoying me and driving away the business I already give them. That is, as soon as there is another choice for coffee that early in the morning. Like Starbucks.

huh.gif Really? Are you saying that you ONLY like American food? No Italian (mmmm, pasta!), greek (gyro anyone?), French (croissant?), or even Chinese food? I find this to be completely blasphemous! laugh.gif
Mcgee
You got it Phish, NO to Greek, Chinese, French, or any others. I`ll eat pasta only if I fix it. Way to much junk spices. You can`t tatse the food. You only taste the spices in them. Besides Idon`t trust what they put in the foods.

A piece of spaghetti or a military unit can only be led from the front end. GP

A good spice violently executed now is better than a perfect spice executed next week.

Sorry Patton but could not pass up the Historical references blink.gif

From a movie I forget...

"Star" = Universe
"Bucks" = Money
"Starbucks" = "Money makes the universe go 'round."

That said, I think their coffee is waaaayyy overpriced for the taste. Frankly, I think Dunkin' Donuts has better coffee... but then again, I am a plain Jane when it comes to my java.

As for the Chinese guy at the mall... Hubby and I always walk around the other side so we don't get accosted by him. biggrin.gif
