Sure, go right ahead, you've been here long enough to know discussions on this type of subject deteriorate quickly. Have fun.

I just listened to that whole thing. I'm just shaking my head at that "speech".
Biased, bigoted and intolerent people have infiltrated even political office.

Aye Crumba, in this country it is amusing to see that there are still those who mistrust/dislike others because of their orientation, color, or beliefs. The good news is it is to the point where it is more demeaning to those say the words than to those they are said about. In my country it is not an issue because like in Iran, there are no gay people

Great, I will take Yoss's account and call it a day. We all agree, it is all talked out. She was stupid on many counts.
Someone was Biased, bigoted and intolerent. And we called her out. End of story. Until the next lemon does it again.Whispers: I am in another bad mood, yes again. I am waiting on a call about a job decision. So there it is, cranky today.

I wonder if she would have spoken differently, knowing that her tirade was being recorded.
Nothing worse than a closet bigot in "high places".

Get real, Big Di**. In your country, ethnocentricity exists, just as it does in all countries. So does homosexuality.

I wonder what her prob with the gay community is, anyway? For the most part, the gays have fewer children than the mainstream population yet pay the same amount in taxes, supporting our schools. Everyone should appreciate that. Also.....a gay friend of mine picked my kids up once because I was sick and couldn't do it myself. If he had had his own kids to worry about, there wouldn't even have been room in his vehicle for my kids, too. None of my "mainstream" friends at the time could have done me that favor, just because of the issue with space in the vehicle for all the kids.......just some food for thought before we bust on everyone who has a different lifestyle.

I came to the realization a while back that they don't really live a different lifestyle. Many gay men live a lifestyle just like me. They are in a committed relationship with someone they love and respect. I was brought up to look at homosexuality as a sin and something that was deviant. I didn't choose to me heterosexual. Why did I used to think people chose to be gay?
Well put, Bent. I do a lot of estate planning for "non-traditional couples" (which also includes non-married opposite-sex couples as well as same sex couples) and I see some very solid loving and caring relationships among gay couples. I see many of the same issues and concerns as traditional couples. The major difference is the
importance of proper planning (married couples can take many things for granted) and the likelihood of challenges from non-accepting families. Acrimonious family relationships often necessitate joint ownership, pay-on-death accounts, and sometimes even trusts - things that don't usually apply to married couples. The divorce rate approaching 50% and she's concerned about gays ruining the institution of marriage? Hell, we ought to give them a chance to do a poorly as we've done!
