Some really nice inns and b/b's in Gettysburg.

I hear Cashtown Inn is wonderful.

Deep Creek?
Yossarian
Deep Creek's a little more than an hour away... closer to 2 or more, isn't it?

What's that place up in PA with the restaurant and cabins... ~something~ Bridge?

Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs has a lodge. It also has cabins for rent. Don't know about the hot tub though.
Checkingin
Berkley Springs, Coolfont is a classy place. It has cabins in the woods that are very nice. If you call, you can get some deals with meals included. We haven't been in a years, so I don't know if it's changed much.

When we were there, it had an indoor pool, jacuzi, massage (for extra cost), music by a fireplace, beautiful lake. Really nice place.

There's always the Bavarian Inn over in Shepherdstown, but you have to book that a little more in advance. Last time I tried, the jacuzi rooms were like 6 months out.

Cabins in the woods w/hot tub that accepts pets.

*** I just remembered, watch the cleaning fee. The prices are reasonable, but they usually add 50 + dollars for a cleaning fee. ***

I think Coolfont is gone, isn't it. It's been a while since I read this, but the owners of Coolfont sold it. I think the owner is doing a housing development. I just don't know how far along they are.

It was a really nice place. The food was great. I did an overnight horseback ride years ago up into the mountains that was a blast.

We stayed at Hickory Ridge Farm. www.hickorybridgefarm.com

Hickory Bridge Farm is located 9 miles west of Gettysburg at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The farm dates back to the 1700’s as a working farm. Today, they still farm the fields, however, dinner is now served in the 190 year old barn and bed and breakfast accommodations is featured in the farmhouse. They also have several cottages nestled in the woods. We never had a room w/ a jacuzzi but I think that is now an option in the newer part. It is a small place compared to other spots listed.

OPPS, forgot to factor in the dog, not sure. Let us know if you find a pet friendly place, we would love that too. Sometimes places will say no in the main Inn but ok in the cabin. At least that is the case when we travel outside Lake Erie.

There are so many nice places in Pennsylvania, all the suggestions sound great. Many good choices. I have wanted to visit Berkley Springs, Coolfont, The Woods Resort, & Deep Creek. Wow, what a nice topic, I like all these ideas.......Enjoy.

I've got the perfect place for you, hagopinion:

http://www.river-cabins.com/rusticriver.html

We stayed in this cabin for a long weekend last May, with our big dog. It's about 20 minutes outside of Shenandoah National Park, on a secluded heavily wooded lot on the river. The cabin is indeed rustic, but the deck is AWESOME (they built it around a large tree!), very private with a huge hot tub. We swam in the river, grilled, soaked in the tub, and hiked in the park. Absolutely fantastic site. The living room is cantilevered over the edge of the riverbank, and it's got lots of glass, so we enjoyed just sitting in the living room watching the water underneath us. Really really cool. The owners were nice to deal with, too; they have a few other cabins for rent in that vicinity and we picked up the key about 1/4 mile away from a lock box. It's a gated area, so it was a very quiet, relaxing (and romantic) stay. We never saw another person!

I forgot to add that we originally found the cabin I mentioned above at www.cabins.com. It's a great website, and you can search by state.

biggrin.gif Great suggestion Clever, the website looks fun. What a nice place, swimming in the river and a cozy cabin. I checked out the site, wonderful ideas.

Avoid Camp Crystal Lake. I hear its not a very romantic getaway. Oh sure it always starts off with a little kissing but I hear it doesnt end well.

RedJo
I'm partial to Deep Creek - they have a little something for everyone and depending on where you are leaving from, it should only be about an hour and a half to two hour drive. There are actually cabins that are pet friendly, you can usually find bungalows that have 2 bedrooms or possibly 3 for reasonable rates. Hot tubs, jacuzzis, massage, fireplaces.

Berkeley Springs is also great - had an ex take me there for a birthday - got a total body work out by the spa & her!

Thanks everyone for the information. I am going to check a few things out.

Not really interested in Deep Creek because grew up in Cumberland and went there at least 6-8 times a year and still go 3-4 times a year. It is kind of like the Pocono's, my wife is from there and we are there 3-4 times a year so we don't see the attraction. Oh it is nice but looking for something different.

Thanks again.

I will let everyone know what and where we go. However, unlike RedJo I will not be telling about my workouts or what goes on in the hot tub. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Hey Yoss thanks for asking but some things came up and we have been unable to plan anything so far. But since you asked I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for Harpers Ferry, as in places to stay. Thanks.
Yossarian
I think the Hilltop House is closed for renovations. And stay away from any of the hotel/motels in the area. Even the Comfort Inn, on 340 and Union(?) St., I've heard some pretty bad things about.

Hopefully someone can help you with some Bed & Breakfasts in the area. Too bad Naomi isn't here much anymore, she could probably help you with some suggestions.
