I really want to see this movie and wondered if any of my fellow forum posters has seen it? Was it good? Bad? Either way If I get a chance Friday I will write up a review for you folks.

Always liked Jude Laws movies, but the real reason I want to go see it------ Nichole Kidman! smile.gif

I haven't seen it, probably won't. But the soundtrack sounds really good..similar to Oh Brother Where Art Thou...I think I'm gonna get it.

Kidman's a babe!
It's top on my list to see also. Probably this weekend. It's playing at Berkeley Plaza in Martinsburg for way less money than Hgr theaters. Of course, I haven't been to Berkeley Plaza theater since I saw "Easy Rider". biggrin.gif

Okay, I give it an 11 out of ten.

Outstanding! Best supporting actress to Rene Zullwinger as Ruby!

Try not to go to Berkeley Plaza it's a little dirty, go to the Hoyts (near the Martinsburg Mall across from Martins) it's $5 no matter what time it is which is a lot cheaper than the Valley Mall and it's clean.

I had heard that about Berkeley Plaza. Saw it at Leitersburg Pike. Afternoon show was only $4.50,

Go see the film. I had a knot in my tummy for two hours after leaving the theater. Emotional film. If sensitive or emotional, bring a hankie! The soundtrack is great also. Needs the R rating, however. I also learned about the Civil War. This is the first war type film I sat through. The others, I have walked out due to the killing. Somehow, this film was different.

It's not that bad, I just wouldn't trust the food or the popcorn. Thank God we Martinsburgians have another place to go now!

You mean, 'Martinsburgers', don't you ???

At Berkeley Plaza, you get what you pay for....if you
go, take a blanket or something else to sit on, and
bring in your own treats !!!

Saw it last week. It is a close approximation of the book. I think the book is an American Classic right up there with the works of Steinbeck, Fitzgerald, Hemingway and others.
It was a very brutal and violent movie despite the fact that it was a love story. 4 people got up and walked out after about 45 minutes. I guess the director could have toned some of that down but then the horrors of war wouldn't have appearred so horrible, would they?
I recommend the book to anyone interested in that period of American history. It is beautifully written and will leave it's mark on your soul.
