I had to keep this going.

Today they anounced that gasoline will be going as high as $4.00 a gallon.

That is going to hurt every person that has to make long drives to work. Also hurt the summer vacationing cost to get there.
When will it ever stop?
Udmas
What happened to the other thread?
SMan
Haven't they said "$4/gallon this summer!" for the past two springs?

I thought Dodge started it.

Oh well, $4 a gallon will suck but what are you going to do, not go to work.

I did and I also closed it down. Just didn't see many postings happening. And Mcqee, I'm already paying over $4.13 a gallon for diesel fuel. that was as of Friday at D.M. Bowman's in Williamsport. $143.65 to fill up. Sickening. But what do you do? I'll go for 2 weeks though on this tank So I guess it all works out in the end. But hurt's at the pump.
Yoss
I truly am unaware that Bent did anything to cause the post to have issues. I closed it down.

UD
The one that is showing closed I didn't start that one did get shut down and mainly in part due to our favorite buddy Bent. But the second one was mine and I saw nothing being posted so I deleted it. That's all I done it for ok. No other reason I just assumed that no one was interested in it and I shut it down. If I thought there was more of an interest I wouldn't have done so ok.

Who's Rowdy Jr. ?????????? Come on now don't start that again. I am who I am ok.
Udmas
Let me just say this, some members find it a bit annoying when they have taken the time to post in a thread only to have the thread deleted later.

My Bad I didn't realize it would create an issue. I really thought no one wanted it so I took it out. It went for like a week with no one responding. So I thought it was a dead point....

Well, this should make the liberals happy! They have been telling the public for years we should be paying 4-5 bucks per gallon just like Europe(because they are so much more wonderful than Americans)... laugh.gif biggrin.gif
Yossarian
Crude went up to $107/bbl yesterday on reports of dwindling supplies of refined product from U.S. refineries.

So the liberals want to charge more for gas out of guilt and conservatives want to charge us more out of greed? Sounds like the old rock and a hard place.
BMIC
Guilt and greed. Well it's obviously not supply and demand any more. One thing the higher price of crude has brought us is we're well past the point where sources that weren't economically viable when the price was much lower (for example Canadian Oil Sands) are now being tapped and the world's supply can now be rightly said to be far greater than all of the old doomsayers who based their numbers almost solely on Saudi crude capacity had been telling us.

Now that the world's supply is so much greater, prices should be coming down. But since it's now more about guilt and greed than supply and demand, we're all screwed.

P.S. As Yoss post points out, another, major aspect of the problem these days is lack of refinery capacity. When that's the reason for an increase in crude price, something's definitely wrong.

Question:
Why drive the big gas guzzlers? And don't give me the standard " safety" answer.
And if it TRUELY is a matter of safety, then why the B!@ching? You chose to drive them. I personally think that if you're not hauling something( trailer, rv, boat, etc) then they shouldn't be allowed on the roads. But, thats just MO biggrin.gif I think it's stupid to drive something that big for no reason other than vanity.
Love my Echo. 36mpg A tank lasts me 2 weeks.

I was reading in Popular Mechanics that they've found some giant fields:

Last year, a Chevron-led consortium announced the discovery of the Jack field, 270 miles off Louisiana. It may hold 15 billion barrels, which would more than double domestic reserves.

http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/earth/4254875.html

I don't understand the part about the reserves tho. thats stupid to me. Use the darn stuff so we're not dependant on foriegn countries. Seems to me that we should be using our own while developing more energy effiecient means of transportation for use here in the U.S.
SMan
The reserves are for a doomsday situation, such as when somebody pops a nuke in the Middle East.

The reason I drive my Ram is not for what most think, it has nothing to do with saftey. I have a 5th travel trailer and my wife and I go frequently on short get away's. Out side of that I've done some personal hauling for some close freinds taking their boat's (not little ones mind you) to Boston, Kentucy, and down to the outter banks. Pulled some RV's down to New Orleans for some shelter housing. I use my truck for work related issues, But then I also use it for personal use. Having said that if It's a nice warm day outside puttling all jokes aside I really do ride my 10 speed bike to work and back home Heck it's faster then driving with the light's and I'm able to save on fuel. My wifes mini van don't get much better gas mileage then my truck. But we have to have the van or my truck because it's next to impossible for me to get down inside a car and then fight to get back up out of it with my back.

I don't want the government telling me what kinda car I can drive. Maybe next someone will decide riding motorcycles -- especially big chromed-out Harleys, just for vanity or fun is a waste and shouldn't be allowed. Maybe ATV's too.

Wasn't there a thread about using sedgways on some national day--what do you think all that is but tyranny?? Sort of like non - smoking was started out as a nice 'option' then it was mandatory in buildings and now the poor smokers are treated worse than the obese..

Congress Grills Oil Execs on High Prices

QUOTE
"Our earnings, though high in absolute terms, need to be viewed in the context of the scale and cyclical, long-term nature of our industry as well as the huge investment requirements," said J.S. Simon, Exxon Mobil's senior vice president.

But Markey asked Simon why Exxon Mobil hasn't followed the other companies in investing in alternative energy. The four other companies reported spending as much as $3.5 billion in recent years on solar, wind, biodiesel and other renewable projects.

"Why is Exxon Mobil resisting the renewable revolution," asked Markey.
