For the first time in many years I may be needing a place to send my daughter for 2-3 days a week during the "school's out" time. I know Antietam Rec is great, but are there any other options out there that you know of? I'm not looking for 1-2 week "camps" but something lasting all summer while school is out, in the Boonsboro-Funkstown-Hagerstown area.

Thanks!

You may want to try the Washington County Summer Camp... There are several located around the county at different schools & parks. Pros - affordable, fun for the kids, organized, safe environment. Cons - There is about a 2 week span after school lets out & before school starts back that they are not open, so alternate care would be needed. Depending what camp you choose, some do not have an indoor option in case of a summer storm. Hours are limited for some, operating from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out... Wash Co Summer Camp Information is listed under Spring/Summer Recreation Programs. Good luck!

We used the Co. camp about 6 years ago. Marty Snook park. College kids as counselors. Pavillions in case of storms. Good mix of kids. Not a bad summer.

Thanks for the input folks.

I see most of the Wash Co. daycare places/camps are only open from 8 AM to 4 PM. blink.gif Now, I'm no rocket surgeon, but wouldn't they think mostly working folks would need to use the services of these camps, and if ya work 8 hours a day....

Nah, I guess not.... rolleyes.gif

I remeber thiose days. Yes, camps are open til 3 or 4 and mom and dad work 5 to 6. Just another way to get you paying more, now comes the before and after care fees. Oh, the pain, I remember. Then you find a nice place, pay for after care and the kids are luke warm on the experience. When it works, it is super fun.

Oh well, luckily we were happy with our options. biggrin.gif
Best wishes to all facing summer and out of school coverage. My hat is off to you. Good luck.

Anyone know of camps for disabled adults, a simple one or two week recreation program in Wash Co or Berkely County?
I have been looking for a sweet client, but have not found anything. Most are summer programs like trips.

CH has it exactly right. Day Care/camp providers have been running this scam for years. They will be more than happy to hook you up with before and after care, for an additonal fee. Oh yes now it all comes back to me...
