I noticed today that a new sign is up where the Venice Inn, Annafair, Perkins, ect.. has been in the past few years. It is called Hall of Fame restaurant and pub. Anyone know anything?

Hm. Haven't heard anything. But I can tell you one thing: I'm not eating there until they clean the place up. It always looks dingy inside, and it smells funny.

"Hall of Fame" restaurant?

they're setting the bar pretty high for themselves, name like that....
I actually thought it had reverted back to Perkins when I drove by the other day and saw the Perkins sign! How bizarre that would be, I thought.

Any chance of getting Willie Mays here for the grand opening?

"Hall of Fame?" I'm guessing this is another sports bar/wings type of place. It would be so nice if something different would open up around here.

Well stopped in. I really don't know what to say. First off my wife and I were the only people in the place. The overall dark dank place has not changed much. It seems as if they put 5 jerseys up and 10 beer signs and decided to make it a sports bar. However, they don't even have a bar. If you want a beer they have to run over to Diva's to get it. Not sure what the pub part means in their title. The menu looked good but the food was just OK. They did put two flat screen tvs up but could use another 20 as big as the place is. As for service, SUCKED. I am assuming here but what it seemed like to me is a mother and father and their two kids running the place. The two kids (late teens-early 20's) waited on us. Don't think they have ever done that before. Had to send the water back because both glasses had some floaters. The boy came over and gave us menus went out side for 25 minutes, meanwhile his sister came over and took our order. The boy came back in after 25 minutes and stated sorry for the wait, what would you guys like. I laughed so that I would not be insulting. I informed him that the girl already took our order. Now seriously, you just opened, no one is in the place and you would have expected your only 2 customers to wait 25 minutes to order. If things don't change and change soon, I give them 2 months.

Cool, thanks bud. I don't know of anyone that has been in there yet. Interesting thing is that after they opened, there was a week or two when there were cars out front, but if they experienced the same thing you did, they are probably one-time patrons. I drive by there every day and its dead. I looked at the menu online and its the same menu you can find in a dozen other restaurants around here. *yawn*
www.halloffamerestaurant.comI hate to see a business fail because that's probably someone's dream, but I really don't understand why people bother investing the money, especially into a restaurant, if they're not even going to try to be successful. Might as well just throw that money into a fire. I'm tellin' ya... if they had gotten Willie Mays there for the grand opening, they could have gotten some press! They could even rename Cleveland Ave to Willie Mays Way!

I'm going to go with 90 days. That will give them 4+ months total of little to no business with bills to pay and lots and lots of frozen food that tastes like... frozen food.

As for the cars out front. Don't let that fool you. The day we went there was 6 cars out front (all employees) no patrons.

I'll have to agree with Hag on this one.
Service was ok, food was ok, price was ok, but what really got me was the beer they have all these beer signs up then when you order one your told you have to go to the bar and get it yourself.
Yep, I say 90 days if their lucky or have deep pockets.

food was fair
service was poor
prices are usual for H-Town higher than in any town near us. I don't get it it is cheaper to eat in Rockville than in Hagerstown!
just like most new restaurants that open in hagerstown: fair to crappy food, poorly trained/behaved staff, over priced for what you get and/or compared to oter areas of MD. It's sad really.
maybe 90 days at best.

They said they didn't have a liquor license for the restaurant yet so I had to walk over to the bar to get a beer.

Everytime I go by this joint it seems dead, and we are fast approaching their first 90 days. Something tells me it won't be much longer.

I wonder if its the hotel people working there like it was when it was perkins. It's horrible. The good sports bar place is out on PA ave, before the colonial, before tonys, after playland and sheetz.

They need to stay open about 45 more days for me to be close to my guesstimate!

Over the past 4 years I have only been to the place maybe 5 times but each time at least one fight. The crowd has always been extremely drunk and disorderly on my experiences. Due to this I have not been there in over 8 months so maybe they changed the dynamics or maybe I just picked the wrong days to go???? Who knows????

I was there like two years ago, seemed pretty mellow. It's a bar though, that serves food, so I'm sure there are bound to be drunks. It's like goin to the broad axe for food and being shocked to see a drunk or two...well maybe it's not exactly the same.

We went to the new Hall of Fame restaurant by the Venice Inn. Service was so-so. What was absolutely awful was the ribs that I ordered. First of all, I was drowning in BBQ sauce. I'm guessing it was to mask the real problem. I tried to cut it with the butter knife they gave me, but it was tough as nails. I finally got it split open a little to find that the entire rack of ribs was bright pink inside! Talk about disgusting. They wanted to bring something else, but I told them I had no faith in the cook after what I just experienced. They brought the bill a little later and proudly announced that they had taken the ribs off of the bill. WELL, THANK YOU! That was nice of them. The manager said she checked on the ribs in the freezer and said that they all looked a bit rough. That was so reassuring. If you were fed up with Perkin's and if you hated Ana Faire's, you can expect pretty much the same from Hall of Fame restaurant.

Well I heard a good report from this joint. I was told they had good crab cake sandwiches. Still though, not enough to make me want to try it.

From the reports I've read here, I don't think I would get crab cakes here. But then again, I'm real picky with sushi too. Even though I wanted it the other day at the Orchid Garden, I wasn't brave enough to try it without hearing about it first. Seafood is easy to screw up and it has to be a place with a solid reputation for me to try it... I was really sick for almost a week with food poisoning once and ever since then I'm really cautious, especially with seafood.
