I just made a mint julep.


1. Put crushed fresh mint leaves and a 1/2 teaspoon of confectioners' sugar (I use splenda) in an 8 oz glass.

2. Fill and pack the glass with shaved ice.

3. Pour in 2 ounces of any Kentucky bourbon.

4. Garnish with a mint leaf.


Enjoy!

Gin & Tonic

- Bombay Sapphire gin
- slice of lime, first rubbed around the rim of the glass, then dropped in the drink
- splash of tonic water
- crushed ice

Mix, stir, & consume

Typically just a glass of wine. I like white in the Spring & Summer, and red in the Fall & Winter.

Sometimes I make a White Wine Citrus Spritzer:

1:1 ratio of white wine (preferably something light, like Pinot Grigio) and lemon/lime seltzer

Put a few slices of lemon and lime on bottom of glass. Add ice. Add wine/seltzer mix to top. Garnish with lime wedge.

Before low-carb diet:

PAINKILLER

One part orange juice
One part Coco Lopez cream of coconut
Four parts pineapple juice
Dark rum to taste (2-4 ounces)

Shake well with ice, pour into glass and top with FRESH GRATED NUTMEG, which is the key to the drink. Tastiest while enjoyed on any beach in the British Virgin Islands.




During low-carb diet:

MY OWN MADE-UP DRINKIE

Sugar-free Fuze Tropical Punch
Bacardi Limon to taste
Crushed ice
Fresh lime

Shake well, pour into glass, and fantasize about drinking a Painkiller while you down it.

Long Island Iced Tea

I think there is as much art as science in making a good one.

I have never liked the taste of beer, but while in Germany I tried ColaWeizen. 1/2 German wheat beer and 1/2 cola.

Delicious! Smooth and sweet. I don't know if you can get wheat beer here. But, I rather not know. Don't need the calories!!

Suzie - I discovered a tasty new drink a few weeks ago (at least I had never had it before so I'm claiming it as my own) and if you like Captain, you should like it.

Captain and Diet Sunkist (or regular Sunkist for those who don't have to watch their figure, although Diet tastes just as good as regular)! It tastes like an orange julius! Yum!

I tried my first one when me and mom were in New Orleans a long time ago. She tasted it and I snapped a picture just in time to catch her expression. She didn't like the drink nor the picture.
