Blow & Go

Ithlilian
First they are going to tell us we have to wear seat belts, now they are going to make us blow into machines.

I don't like it. No I don't want to back it up, it's my opinion. I don't want more regulation from the government or whoever.
BMIC
IMO they need to add an autodialer that dispatches the Police to the scene of anyone attempting to drive drunk.
coma
Well if we were given cars that would drive themselves like we were promised back in 1985, this wouldn't be necessary.
SMan
Exactly. Where is my hover car?!?
Udmas
Never going to happen.

Never going to happen.

Yeah, way too many problems to solve with hover cars.

Instant transportation portals should suffice.

And they have about as much of a chance as anything else mentioned here.

Yea--what ever happened to living like the Jetsons??? I remember growing up and waiting for the next ice age & the sonic type cars...hmmmm...I think my generation got gyped. laugh.gif

Hell, I'd be happy with a hover bike, a la Lisa Simpson. biggrin.gif

This is a nice idea if you want to pay for it on your car but it should be your choice...like, if you were purchasing a car for your teenaged son or daughter, maybe. But it's pretty crappy to force someone to pay for a car with this feature if they don't even drink. You know it's going to add cost to the manufacturing, and it would be foolish for a manufacturer to just eat that expense in the interest of possibly keeping a drunk person off the road. Of course they're going to pass that cost on, and you should have the freedom to decide whether that's an option you want to pay for.

Not only is there the cost of paying for it in the first place, but what do you do when it breaks? How maddening for someone who doesn't drink to be stuck with a big repair bill for a totally unnecessary device.

I'm all for forcing people convicted of drunk driving to have it installed on THIER cars, but not on every car sold. No way!

Err.... Hell to the Nah!

::singing theme song to the Jetsons:: ...Jane, his wife...

Clever - you summed it up perfectly!

Thanks, Pandora's Box. BMIC has a great point too, about having to pay for repairs if it breaks, when you didn't even want it in the first place. How crappy would it be if the device malfunctioned, and thought you were drunk when you hadn't been drinking at all, and then you couldn't get your car to start? Ugh. And you just know it would happen just when you needed to be somewhere in a hurry, too...

Yes! Exactly.

But also, what if you get your car serviced, then someone has to blow into YOUR machine! They get their nasty spit all over YOUR machine!!! Ew.
