I think your problem is that you happen to be circumsized, and you wish you weren't!.................. biggrin.gif

I think you need to have your head examined. Your mental faculties appear to be severely lacking.

Say whatever you like..........it is obvious that you have a serious issue about this issue.............. biggrin.gif

I guess we can try......as long as no one calls my son or me a "filthy lout" because I do not approve of the practice. That, BMIC, is when I began to regard what you had to say on the subject as ridiculus.
BMIC
Okay I won't call you anything, But that doesn't mean my opinions will change one iota. Nor will the urge to vomit should I ever mistakenly glimpse such a disgusting sight likely fail to occur.

It was your choice that you imposed on your son and that's your right. That doesn't keep me from finding it disgusting. I have a right to my opinion and you to yours. The problem is that over and over again on issue after issue, people who don't hold my opinion act as if I have no right to hold it. I do not have to agree with you. I have a right to think what I wish.

It's quite the opposite. It's not your opinion that people have a problem with (most of the time), it's the way you relay your opinion. You are crass, harsh, and have a total disregard for others. Calling people "disgusting" or "freaks" is not really relative to the way you feel about an uncircumsized penis. You are just flat out attacking people for how they live their life and that's wrong.

Learn how to effectly communicate with people and these threads will not be so focused on you (as if you didn't like that). wink.gif

Hmm.......people? As in everyone? That's interesting, BMIC.......perhaps you should explore that more deeply. Oops.......I didn't mean anything subtle by that........................

I have no prob with your opinions, BMIC, and I think it is pretty cool that you post so openly. I just cannot agree when you call others ugly names because they do not belong to the "BMIC Personal Political Opinion Club", or whatever it is called, and the rest of the world is not "evil" for living and thinking a different way.

If I think something is freakish or disgusting, that's just too bad. That's not name-calling, it's an opinion.

Now if you said your penis wasn't circumcised and I said "you're a freak" or "you're disgusting", then THAT would be name-calling. But hmm I don't think either you or Phish are going to be talking to me about your penises now, will you?

It's controversial these days. What do y'all think? I don't know a lot about it. I haven't seen one in real life. A penis, that is. Is this like an innie/outtie belly button thing?

did you mean you never seen one at all or did you mean you never seen one of each?

I wasn't very clear on that, was I? I've seen a circumsized penis. Ok, maybe two. happy.gif

I've never seen an uncircumsized penis, in real life, is what I was saying. But who knows, it was kinna dark and I wasn't very close, three of those times.

When I had my first two sons, in the early 80's, there was a big "grassroots" movement to get back to the natural way. So, at least in my crowd (and yes, B, they were Christians, not Baptists, though) there was a big push to Not circumsise (how do you spell that, anyway?? laugh.gif )

You know the whole packet ..... home birth, midwife, breast feed only (never give a bottle), sleep in a family bed, home school, no ciricucision, and even alot of talk about no vaccinations. I was way too traditional for all of that. But, those kids are adults now. As are mine. And you can't* tell the difference between who was raised one way over the other. They all turned out healthy and loved.

Like, Peacefrog, I went with whatever hubby wanted. He made the decision and I went with it. No problem for me.

And, I can't understand why a man would get a circumcision later on in life. Why put yourself through that? Just curious.

It's ok I didn't take your comment's bad ok. I feel much like B in this matter. I think it's repulsive not to be cut. I'm sorry SS. I know all to well what my Step Dad has gone through. I know the articles that are out there about having this done and have read them. Here's the thing, My Step would have had it done year's ago but he just wouldn't do it. He was in his 30's and Mom begged him to get it done. But he wouldn't. True if the person is clean and keeps himself clean they should be ok. But what if a Teenager is hiding it from everyone meaning they don't clean up that well, The chance of him taking something to someone else if far greater then that of a cut because a cut can clean up much easier and faster. That's all I'm trying to point out on the health issue ok.
Now it's just YUK in my book. I wouldn't want that hanging off the end of me. Plain and simple. Sorry don't mean to pick on any one that's not cut sorry.

On the first episode of nip/tuck some girl made fun of the main character's son's uncircumcised penis so he feels like he will be a virgin forever and proceeds to cut the skin off himself. I would circumcise my son if I had one because he certainly isn't going to get made fun of for a circumcised penis, why put them through the ridicule. Circumcised seems to be the norm, so people would make fun of things that aren't the norm, that's what people do.

I guess that I missing where you get your info. In the US today Uncircumcised is the norm, over 50% do not have the skin cut.

I've never heard of making fun of anyone for something like that. I guess, as a Pagan, I consider ridicule bad karma in general; but especially over physical characteristics. You must be referring to small minded people. Most boys who have actaully changed clothes in the same room as my son are envious of him.

I cannot believe this thread is still going. Foregoing circumcision is a choice that some people choose to make these days. It's not one I would make for my kid if I had a boy, but whatever. I was raised in a generation where everyone was circumcised: it was simply a "given". They're still rare enough that seeing an uncircumcised one is a bit of a shock.

To a man of my generation, someone who is not circumcised is unusual, odd, I dare say not the norm. "Freak" is not a far cry from there. We were taught that circumcision is necessary for basic hygienic reasons, thus lack of it is thought of as being dirty and unhygienic. If nothing else to my undertstanding it requires extra care to avoid infections.

Heck, I cut my hair short to avoid having to mess with it in the mornings. It sounds rather gross, and is wayyy too personal, but I like having my manhood clean cut too, so I don't have yet another thing to have to worry about.

There have in fact been recent studies claiming that circumcision is not really any more healthy, but I don't really believe them and feel that instead they reflect an uderlying bias - that the authors are instead looking for a way to reject something that they think has too-close ties to religious beliefs that they dislike.

I would never say anything to or against someojne who wasn't curcumcised. I admit I feel a little shocked and usually think to myself "eww, that's kind of gross", but it's not like I run away screaming, much less treat the person any differently. I assume they were raised in a different tradition than I and that's about it.

But if you ask my opinion, I gave it: I think it's dirty and a bit uncivilized (or at least from a diferent brand of civilzation than the one I was raised in), and yes somewhat freakish - to me because I was raised to believe that everyone was circumcised and there was nary a thought given to NOT doing it.

----
hagopinion, would you please cite your source if you don't mind? I MIGHT be convinced that 50% of boys born TODAY in the U.S. don't get circumcised (because there's push against it aming the PC crowd), but I seriously doubt that 50% of all American males are uncircumcised.
siriunsun
BMIC, when I was little, most women were given sodium pentathal (sp?) during labor. Not my stepmother. Not me, when I had children. Now it is the norm for hospitals NOT to even offer that choice. Episiotomies are another unnecessary surgery......OB's just do it without asking most of the time during birth. Yours truly wouldn't go along with that, either. There are no PROVEN medical benefits to circumsision that cannot be had simply by bathing every day and doing one's laundry on a regular basis, so why should insurance companies have to pay for it? If a guy is too stupid for cleanliness, maybe he deserves what he gets. Perhaps everyone's insurance could go down if UNNECESSARY surgerys, such as circumsision, were not covered. Eat that........no pun intended...... biggrin.gif

One of the reasons this thread is still going is because you called me some names, and insulted others about their opinions, and, in general, posted a bunch of "stuff" leaning toward an opinion that anyone who does not live or think as you live and think is not only evil, but dirty. Other posters responded to it. Get over it, and get a life.

I apologize if my statements were misleading or misunderstood. My 50% is based on boys that are born TODAY not total US population. I used this because most of the arguements that I have seen on here state "If I had a son today I would not get him circumsized" the arguements are not "If I had a son 35 years ago I would not get him circumsized." Also, BMIC not to be judgemental but I think that if you would state your arguement as you did in the first 5 paragraphs of your last post I would be able to take you serious. Overall I would have to agree with some things that you have said but I would never come out calling people that are different freaks, especially based on a little extra skin. I also understand that some of your beliefs are based on religion which I also understand. However, shouldn't you place judgement on the parents and not the child because in reality they are the ones that made the decision, not the person with or without the skin. That is to say if it is necessary to place judgement at all.

I'm still not really sure why some men here are so concerned about whether another man is circumcised or not, unless of course, you are a gay man. If that's the case, then I understand why one or the other would be important to you since you'd probably have a preference of which type of penis you prefer to handle, but if not, why care so much about something that doesn't affect you?

Since my son and I fit right into that catagory, I decided to make it known that we are not "filthy louts". I truly hope that you are alone in that opinion of us, or "people like us". Hmm........what are "everythings", in this case?

Just a response to someone who claims quite a bit in terms of his religion and it's messiah's professed great love for everyone, yet proves to me that I and my children would be regarded as "freaks" if meeting him in real time. Heather sorry for the delay at getting back to you. We've been away for the weekend. Now, No I'm not Unreasonable about a lot of new things, in fact I'm all for something new. This is not such a new thing "I.E." Cut or not cut. This issue has been around for many year's. As for me Sorry I just can't and didn't do that to my child. We seriously searched and talked with medical Field folks, yes family as well. I am eternally grateful that my mother made the choice to have me cut. Further all the family boy's have been cut. I'm 43 and I'm the baby so this topic is not a new thing ok. Their are those men that aren't cut that are very careful and they take the time to make sure they stay clean. But me being a care taker of my Mom and Dad I know all to well the out come of uncleanliness and the out comes that fall from it, I can't be there 24 hour's a day with my Step Dad and Mom. I'm in NO way shape or form saying that all Uncut men are dirty people. As for me I think it's nasty that's all, could be from my upbringing. I'm sorry and I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings but I'm speaking from pure health issues alone mainly meaning today's teenagers, and then our seniors, they don't always take the time that's needed to make sure they are clean and stay clean......

Circumcised males are less likely than their uncircumcised peers to acquire a sexually transmitted infection, the findings of a 25-year study suggest.

According to the report in the November issue of Pediatrics, circumcision may reduce the risk of acquiring and spreading such infections by up to 50 percent, which suggests "substantial benefits" for routine neonatal circumcision.

Although many folks in the 80's and 90's claimed a lack of any benefit, the more recent studies have proven that circumcision has a substantial benefit in preventing STDs. Excuse me for thinking of an increased risk of STDs as being "dirty"... but I do.

STD's are more than just skin deep, and circumsision does nothing to reduce one's chances of getting an STD. Ask your doctor about it.

Add to that list the original uncircumcised Philistine: Goliath of Gath.
siriunsun
BM......aren't you willing to let this thread go? biggrin.gif

As you well know, if God tells anyone to go over to the site where the Philistines actually lived at the time of Goliath, and destroy it or kill someone, and they do it, it is an act of war. And it doesn't matter if the victims are circumsized or not. And you know.....I think the world should be ready to stop all this senseless killing, anyway. I don't care if the christian god loves killing or not. I won't support it.
BMIC
This thread reminds me of one of my favorite Outer Banks seafood restaurants.
