This joint is right near us in ths South End Shopping Center, but it seems....I don't know.... a little sketchy to us from the outside. Has anybody been there or know someone who has?

SC,
There sandwiches are pretty darn good, I didn't particularly care for the wings
SmokeChaser
Gee, you would think with their name, they would at least get the wings right. What was wrong with them?

Anyone else?
coma
What an original and unique name. How on earth did they ever come up with that one!

Anyway, haven't been there. Best wings I've had in Hagerstown are at Mr. D's in South Pointe.
SmokeChaser
Yeah I know. I hope for CMD's sake that the beer was good since he didn't care for the wings. If they eff up the beer too that can't be a good sign. biggrin.gif
CoolMintDrops
As long as the beer is cold SC, then it's fine by me ;-)

I needed a few extra that nite to wash those nasty wings down

We were discussing that place in one of these threads and I think it was Sman that said he liked it.

We went there one night and couldn't seem to get waited on, the waitress seemed to be to busy socializing to wait on us, so we left and haven't went back.

I went from pseudo vegetarian to carnivore and I'm slowly reverting back to vegetarian. I don't want to eat a wing anything. I heard there's a place in the west end that serves unicorn hooves. sad.gif PM me with the perfect sauce and die.

Best ribs at Mr. D's also. Tequilla/Beer Sauce mmmmmmm good very very good!!!
SMan
I liked it the few times I went, but the last was probably 2-3 months ago. Then again, my tastes seem to run the opposite of the consensus around here. I thought the Pacific Ocean buffet was just meh, while most raved about it.

I agree SMan, I was not impressed with the food.

We tried Buffalo and Wings, must of been an off night. The service was bad, took a long time. Guess it depends what day of the week you hit it.
SMan
Service was slow each of the times I went. Very slow. So slow that it made my wife veto my suggestion of going there a few weekends ago. But I still liked the wing flavors. Their crab soup was good. And to be the complete opposite of CMD, I thought their sandwiches (which wifey always ordered) weren't that great.

Mr. D's is pretty good. I've only been once and need to go back.
communityhagerstown
I will have to try Mr. Ds. I have heard several people comment on the menu. All liked it, they either loved the ribs or enjoyed the wings. biggrin.gif
SMan
My minor problem with Mr. D's was that the 2 flavors of wings I tried were much too subtle for my tastes. When I get flavored wings, I want my taste buds to be assaulted, viciously and repeatedly, with the flavor, not just tickled. biggrin.gif

Robin and Marco will let you sample the sauces if you ask. They have I believe 12 choices. My fav as stated before is Tequilla Beer which is only a medium heat. The Jerk sauce is pretty good. One thing I have learned at Mr. D's they really do care what you think and will do whatever they can to make sure you have a good experience.
coma
Yeah, last time I was there I had Jerk and garlic I think. They were both really good.
SmokeChaser
Thanks for the input ya'll, when I get back from Mississippi, sounds like I'll be headed to Mr. D's over B-wings and Beer.

Bleh my boy and I just tried the PO again. They are on a downward slide. They actually had a steam table labled that it was not working properly, sorry and they were still offering stuff on it.Turns out half the stuff we grazed on was not warm enough. Not good, will not go back. I think the wings and beer place at the South End just got hammered in the HM by the inspector in the Sunday paper. Some not good violations....

I'd have to say that I am not impressed with either establishment... Pacific Ocean is just a large scale run of the mill chinese buffet, IMO... The food is average & although they have what appears to be a large selection on the buffet, most end up tasting very similar to each other. BW&B is yet another wing place that offers wings with different sauces... Not any different than the many other wing places out there... The best wings I have ever had were at what used to be The Old Pike Inn (now the shut down infamous Stingers). They were made fresh to order & really did have the different flavors that all made your mouth melt. Just thinking about them makes me want to bite into one! A night there with friends, good food & cold beer was a definate good time!!!

Wings = Stadium Tavern. wink.gif
Udmas
Thee hottest wings I have ever had were at the Stadium Tavern.

I don't even get why wings are so good. I think some of y'all eat the bone. How do you get your big teeth into those little pieces of things?

I forgot about the Stadium... Thanks for the reminder! Yep - they are some good wings! Still not what I remember from Old Pike, but worth a trip in the near future! I like Toppings here in Frederick for wings @ lunch once in a while. they's got really good ones... Good pizza & subs, too!

Not a fan of any wings around here. If you are ever in the Pittsburgh area and a few others you should check out Quaker Steak and Lube www.quakersteakandlube.com
They actually have one sauce that you have to sign a release to try it.

I actually strip the meat off with my fingers or a fork. Unless Im tailgating. Then its bite it off. Try the Tyson Buffalo Wings that come in the big bag over an outside grille, a little crispy, now thats good.....

I always eat boneless wings. I don't like dark meat and I don't like the grissle and other stuff you find around the bone. I'm also very picky with any type of fat whether its on chicken or beef.
CleverNameGoesHere
I had the wings at Stadium Tavern once and didn't care for them much -- they have too much breading. They can't hold a candle to the Mango Habanero wings at Mr. D's -- one reason his wings are so kickass is because they flash-fry them, so they're crispy without being breaded. Another reason they're so great is that they're always big, meaty wings. And that sauce! ::drools::

BW&B is just a fair chain. More of a beer crowd than a wing crowd

The wings at Buffalo Wild Wings are really bad. Another beer crowd.

Mr'D's are very good. And the owners are super nice. However, everything takes forever, they break a lot of health department rules infact they just got written up pretty bad. Weird that a chef (Marco) allows such blatent disregard for health standards. (I won't give examples) Still like the place though!

The stadium is hit or mostly miss unless you know someone there. Wings are average.

The Ledo has the largest/meatiest wings in H-Town They don't have a lot of flavors and you have to count the wings to make sure you got what you ordered but they are huge and tasty! Hot is the best. Their wing sauce are great on the pizza too!

Where was the write up at? I just searched the reports for April and May and they weren't in it.

Can you provide a link or cite information from a reputable source about Mr D's? Apparently no one can find your reference, and until such time we're going to have to take your comment with a "grain of salt".

O.K. O.K.

My source for the comment on the recent write up was possibly thinking of a different place.

HOWEVER, they were writen up and it was very easy to find with an Archive search. Write up from August 2007 is below:

Mr. D's, 120 E. Oak Ridge Drive, Suite 300, Hagerstown - interior of refrigerator must be cleaned; single serve items stored improperly; inadequate sanitizer level at three-compartment sink; chemical test strips must be available; back door must be self closing.

My other observations were based on the fact that I used to own a Deli in Montgomery County and I have been certified for food service in Maryland. I have noticed since moving here that some places seem to get away with more than others.

In closing I like Mr D's that is why I chose not to say what I saw.

Thanks-
