Sometimes we get pretty passionate about those things. Sometimes we get so passionate that we think we can say anything. Some people think that being anonymous releases them from the norms of social interaction. Some people just hit the add reply button way too soon.
We don't have many rules here. :waits for the booing and loud heckles to stop:
Mostly, we ask people to follow our guidelines. The guidelines are just that - guidelines. They are a broad path to follow when you come here. Our guidelines can be found in the tab at the top left of the forum home page.
As moderators on the site, we try to judge things on a case-by-case basis. We try to listen to and respond to complaints and denials of wrong doing with equal fairness. The reality is, this is the internet. The social norms are...different...here. We caution the thin-skinned to toughen up and the mean-spirited to lighten up.
That said, there are some thing we won't tolerate.
Words that George Carlin likes to pepper his routines with shouldn't pepper your forum posts. Carlin's infamous "seven dirty words" list is our "don't use that here list." If you don't know the words, google it. (But don't post it for your fellow forum members. Let them find it on their own. And don't argue about the last one on his list. It made the list.
Racism and intolerance won't be tolerated here. Those are ugly words and even uglier sentiments and they don't belong in this or any other arena.
And, finally, this is not the place to settle that vendetta you have with "_____:fill in the blank:_____." Got a personal beef with someone? Take it somewhere else.
Just a reminder. Now, back to your regular programming...
