What is the Herald Mail's policy on sources? Do they accept any tip, verbal or written, with or without identification? Do they have any standards for varification?

Exactly when did the HM get the tip or report about Cromer's traffic stop and what was the source? An honest answer might stop some of the accusations and ugliness in some current threads!

I think they believe anything anybody tells them, at least that's what I gather from reading some of these threads.

IF the paper hires PROFESSIONAL reporters who have been trained in journalism.......

IF the paper performs due diligence on tips it receives.....

IF the paper were to perform professional follow-on investigations and reports....
