Which is better? Cable Internet or Verizon DSL

Until FIOS comes (if ever) these are our only choices.

I think in order to properly evaluate one over the other, one has to have had both services.

It is about 50% of one and half of the other. I have cable and at work some of our facilities have Verizon DSL. I keep cable because I ahven't had any problems and I don't have to worryabout the lines in my house. But I would have no problem using DSL. Like you I cna't wait until FIOS becomes available.

I've had both and I prefer DSL, the main reason it's cheaper.

I've had both and I prefer DSL. Antietam doesn't have problems too often, but when they do, it takes them at least a day to figure out and fix the problem.

Plus, like Udmas said, Verizon DSL is cheaper AND faster.

DSL is only cheaper if you have a phone line. Maybe it is only young people that don't have phone lines, we just use cell phones.

That's a nice upload speed udmas. I think gamers would really appreciate that.

We currently have Antietam but are looking into Verizon. Does Verizon have a spam report? or at least better spam filters because we are getting slammed with spam. Blocking email from those senders is worthless. This will be my deciding factor and the fact that it's cheaper helps too.

I don't have a phone line and Verizon DSL is still cheaper. Now if I had Antietam Cable TV instead of Dish, then yeah, cable internet would be cheaper, but I would still pay the extra $10 for the faster speed. Antietam priced themselves out of competition for what they offer in my opinion. If you can get satellite tv or dsl, I don't see why people wouldn't use them over Antietam. I will give them credit though, their cable internet customer service was fantastic whenever there was a problem.
