So what does everybody think of renaming Foxcroft Ave to Van Wyk Blvd or Van Wyk Way in honor of the late businessman who basically built up that area. I really could care less one way or another. I think the city should honor him in one way or another after all he did for Martinsburg.

To be honest, I could care less. I'm sure they will rename that road a few times in the future, just because there are so many businesses there that would love to have their name on the sign.

I don't care either. Most of the time I can never remember the name to begin with!

Who WAS Foxcroft!!??

Who knows, I think it was just one of those random names for a street.

I think it's stupid.
Why force all of those businesses to change their addresses ??
Why make the county change their E-911 system ??
If they we're so delighted with the guy, why didn't they
name the street for him then? He owned the land, didn't
he ??
Let's just rename the town for him... VanWycksburg, or whatever
his name is !!!
'Course, then 'Pennington' would be unhappy and want
the town named after him, etc...

I'll have to agree with 5car, I think it's stupid as well. With all due respect to a person who has recently passed, it would create too much disruption and confusion. Save his name to honor the next new building or new road.

Yeah, but he built Foxcroft Ave so that's why they want to rename it. I could care less, I'd probably still refer to it as Foxcroft Ave anyway. It would cost the 911 people & businesses some money, but I don't think it would create confusion.

Hey! I had to send out a big bunch of change of address cards when the county made me change my address! I don't care what they do . It seems to me the family should just start a scholorship fund or a housing fund for the poor or some such.
