I know what you are going to say, that your feet are supposed to hurt after standing on them all day, or that's what a real job is, etc, but I'll describe my problem anyway.

My feet hurt as soon as I get to work and start walking on their padded floor. They don't hurt in the morning when I wake up, that is actually the only time they don't hurt. The pain is mostly in my heel, a little in my foot pad and arch. I was wearing size 8 shoes that my feet well (reeboks) but they were too tight around the heel and my feet swelled up too much for those shoes. So I started wearing my size 10 nike shocks so I could have some room, and that didn't help at all. I bought dr scholl inserts, and they made no difference.

It's not like after being on my feet for 9 hours they start to ache a bit. It's 10 minutes after I get there it feels like someone is stabbing me in the heel. It's stabbing, it's burning, aching, nerve twitching, pain. Sometimes when my toes try to cross over each other I get a nerve twitch feeling which is horrible, I feel a little bit of that through my arch sometimes when the pain is really bad.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought new shoes (size 8-dr. scholls) and I hope that helps. I heard something about padded socks also, though I haven't seen them anywhere.

Google "heel spurs" and "plantar fasciitis". See if either of those sound like your problem. If it does, there's all kinds of treatment gadgets for stretching your feet and relieving symptoms.

Ouch, good luck. Hope it is not a bone spur. If it is, there are a lot of comfort products. Layers or cushioning would help in the short term.

I went to a podiatrist, the treatment worked. I avoided surgery. Changing to Rockport or Easy Spirit shoes for work helped. They were not freakish.

I noticed a problem when I was wearing dress boots with a small heel, it was enough to trigger the condition. I must of been predisposed. The podiatrist said that there is a flap of skin and fat that can be disturbed, it moves over exposing the spur or other involved area. Comfort measures sometimes gives it time to heal.

The doctor said it could of been from wearing bad shoes &/or over exercising. I was working out and doing a lot of aerobics. I took a break and updated all my shoes.
I was ok at work with the new shoes and insert. There are people who it just happens to, ouch for no reason.

Hopefully, you just need new shoes. smile.gif

A couple years ago I had a similar problem that had lasted for months before I went to the doctor about it. He diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis and prescribed 800mg of ibuprofen 4 times a day for 2 weeks, which I thought was extreme, but it worked. It was fairly inexpensive too as far as treatments go. Of course you should consult your own physician before you start any treatment.

I did web MD and they said plantar thing. Heel spurs hurt in the morning though, and don't necessarily cause foot pain unless you have another condition along with it. My feet feel great in the mornings. The plantar fasciitis is the same way, it's supposed to hurt in the mornings. I'm inclined to think it's not that, I hope it's just the shoes. I might try some cushioned socks if my new shoes don't work.

I took 800mg of ibuprofen at 9:00, then again at 2:00 and it didn't help me at all, so I stopped.

The good shoes meant to help foot pain are really expensive. I'm going to try these 30 dollar wal mart dr. scholls shoes and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I'm a little worried that the 80-100 shoes won't be any better.

Thanks for helping smile.gif

Update:

The Dr. Scholl's shoes do not help at all. My feet are in excruciating pain and 800 mg of ibuprofen doesn't help at all. I'm going to go to the free clinic all day and hope I can get seen by the end of the day because I can't handle this for much longer.

Make sure you don't have gout.

It seems like there is no way to tell if it is that without going to the Dr.

Gout again mentioned it hurting during the night, but that is the only time I feel better. I will definitely go to the free clinic though.

I brought them Dr. Scholl's shoes once, never again.
Had them for 2 months and the heels started coming apart.

I would say your probably is bone spur.

My uncle had this condition, he could hardly walk it got so bad.

I remember the Dr. Scholl's I used to wear to be "fashionable"... those hard-soled-plastic-to-look-like-wood shoes with the pleather strap across the front with the brass buckle? I had to have every color... Red, blue, white... Ahhh... the memories! biggrin.gif

I think it may be spurs also. If I actually get seen on Friday I'll let you know what they say.
