Next Thursday is my 10th wedding anniversary...
My 9 yr old an I are planning to take my wife out for crabs.... she loves them and we have not gone out yet this year ..
I have looked at prices at the Stadium, the Gateway and The Liberty...
The Stadium is $55/dozen for large
The Gateway is $42.50/dozen for large, but has an all you can eat small/medium that night for $45
Liberty has an all you can eat small/medium for $30 that night...

I am not a fanatic crab eater. I just don't get into the whole hammer and pick thing to eat my dinner... but my wife loves them
However, I do love good seafood.....
I have only eaten at the Liberty once and it was good, but that was about 2 yrs ago...
Have eaten once at the Stadium and it was good, but did not have seafood
Have eaten at the Gateway a couple of times and had a great meal every time...

I am really leaning toward the Liberty, but want some input as to what others think....

If by The Liberty you mean Liberty Road, that would be my vote. It's all you can eat seafood, you'll get your fill, I know I did. We went there with some friends for my 30th birthday last and had a great time.

My second would be The Stadium they hae really good food, our office has them cater most of our large functions.

I haven't been to the Gateway in years, but I hear they are still good.

There's the Chaser's picks, anyway Happy Anniversary!!

Another vote for Liberty Road.

It's all touch and go with crabs. Great "here" this weekend and sucks the same place the next weekend. The reviews of crabs are everywhere too. Some people can pick any crab and be delighted, but what you don't know is that they are drunk and having a great time socializing whilst picking and having a fun time. Then the hardcare crab people from Southern Maryland get a batch of any crabs around here and complain because they aren't like "home." Good luck is all I can say. Find a good recommendation and chase it the same night, maybe.
Idiot
Isn't Liberty Road in Frederick? Never been there but if I was going all the way to Frederick I'd go to Jug Bridge. It's not a fancy place but if she likes crabs she'll love it. smile.gif

Actually it's in Libertytown, but worth the drive IMO.

Have you tried Dave and Janes in Fairfield, PA. I don't know much about MD Crabs because I'm way too lazy to pick at them. But we've always gotten fantastic food there! Not a fancy place either but hella fun if you're goin with a group!

There's a seafood place outside of Winchester (I think)... It's called 220 & it sits on Rt. 200 (maybe someone from WV could add more to the location?) that has yummy seafood! Great crabs, too! IMO - better than Libertytown. Well worth the drive...
SMan
Yeah, I can't say that Libertytown has the best crabs I've ever tried, but what I like about them is the total package. I love all the other stuff that's included with the AYCE crabs.
PandorasBox
SMan... Then you should really look into going to 220. The AYCE there is awesome! The only AYCE's I have found better are ones by the shores... Captain George's & Captain Benjamin's are my fave's... Then it would have to be 220...
SMan
The guy in the next cube over goes to 220 fairly regularly and raves about it. The only knock he has against it is how busy it gets with people lined up to get in.
PandorasBox
Ah, yeah... I guess I shoulda mentioned that... unsure.gif But it's worth it. Promise! wink.gif

Gee, I was looking up the 220 crab restaurant to see how to get there and I found this from a post. I hope that it's not true that it has closed. They are only opened Wed - Sat.

220 Seafood is gone! I wanted fried oysters and crab legs. Went over to 220 because I knew I'd get a great dinner and they had closed. Sad!

Due to timing in her getting back from work tomorrow evening SWMBO has decided we are going to the Gateway for their all you can eat hardshells ($42.50 for sm/med)....

She gets to hammer on the table and the little one gets her steamed shrimp and I get to order what I want and we both get to steal some crab from SWMBO ... rolleyes.gif

I was there last summer and it wasn't bad. I think their AYCE also included unlimited fries back then.
