Just like the Rachel Ray ad from a few months ago, another ad is pulled for seemingly no reason.

Mr. T Snickers ad pulled for being offensive to gay people

Mars has pulled a UK TV ad for Snickers featuring Mr T harassing a speed walker for being a "disgrace to the man race" after US complaints that it was offensive to gay people.

I see nothing wrong with it, harldy offensive, just a funny ad. dry.gif

I thought it was funny too. The people who are offended by this, are they offended because they think that if a man speed walks, he must be gay? I know gay guys who would never speed walk because it looks dorky, not because it's stereotypically gay. They'd rather run, or cycle. Sheesh. People are too damn touchy anymore. I would think that if someone was looking for a reason to whine and moan about this commercial, it would be for the tagline "get some nuts", which alludes to testicles, and therefore would be objectionable to certain delicate people who are offended by language. Not me though. I like my testicle-related humor. Funny that this was aired in England where it got a total of two complaints. I've HEARD that there ARE a few gay people in the UK, but I guess they have a more relaxed sense of humor. rolleyes.gif

LMAO. Maybe it had something to do with the words "Get Some Nuts" at the end of it.

That's how it is now, all someone has to do is say they are offended by something and the next thing you know ads are getting pulled, people are getting fired and the "offending material" is removed.
Snoopy
They need to replace it with an ad where a white male is made to look like a jackass, boor, or slob. That'd be okay.

OMG, that is SO true. Making the man out to be a clueless nimrod in a commercial is completely acceptable, and that's just about the only "stereotype" that's still considered okay. It irks my husband like you would not believe, he says "they'd never do that with the woman in the commercial!"

Off-topic but somewhat relevant as far political correctness run amok, anyone heard that "Men at Work" signs in Atlanta are being replaced with "Workers Ahead"? I'm a chick and I'm sooooooo not offended by "Men at work" signs. puh-leeze. Clickie.

I thought it was funny, just a goofy ad. Ouch, I would of sped up to.

Now I want a Snickers.

I heard that they replaced the "Reduced speed ahead" signs with signs that have the lower speed limit and an arrow for people that don't speak english.

Don't know how that is related to this...but I just thought of it.

I noticed one of those yesterday.

Why?

Are Americans getting to dumb to read and understand the old signs.

No
It is the ones who come to this country and say you have to change things for me now. I do not have to go by your rules. Add note: Wish killing was leagel.

So umm yeah, anyway, I've watched that video numerous times now, and I still see nothing homosexual about it. I don't know, I guess I agree with Mcgee, killing to preserve a way of life without idiots should be legal. dry.gif
jelsey
He's gay.

What self-respecting manly-man is gonna speed walk wearing YELLOW bootie-shorts?

And that hair cut!

Yeah, swish-city material for sure.

Not that there's anything WRONG with that lifestyle. laugh.gif
