Wisconsin man arrested after shooting lawnmower

A Wisconsin man is in trouble with the law for shooting, of all things, his lawnmower after it wouldn't start. Witnesses told police Keith Walendowski, of Milwaukee had been drinking before the shooting.

Neighbors heard the gunfire.

"Well it seems strange, but he's a strange guy with his drinking," said neighbor Donna Kadow.

Walendowski even justified his lawnmower rage by telling police "it's my lawn mower and my yard, so I can shoot it if I want."

But shooting the mower is a crime, disorderly conduct while armed.

And the harsher penalty is for the gun itself.

It's illegal to have a sawed off shotgun in the first place.

The 56-year-old has a totally clean record according to court records.

Neighbors say he's not a violent guy.

"Crazy drunk, you know. He would never hurt anybody. Just a lawnmower? Just a lawnmower, right. Otherwise, he has never hurt nobody," Kadow said.

The man could face six years in prison and an $11,000 fine if convicted.

If he'd cared about the planet and used a manual push mower then this would never have happened. wink.gif And one more source of amusement for me wouldn't ever have existed. laugh.gif

Aw you mean you can't just shoot at random objects in your backyard?

Probably not a good idea if you live in the city or if you're going to use illegal firearms to do it.

I think it should have been turned into lawn art.

I have one of those. I've wanted to shoot it a couple of times, too.

We just added one of those 'old fashioned' rotary push mowers to our collection of yard implements. $90 @ Lowes.

The kids LOVE it, they've never seen anything like it. It's quiet, "green" and sharp as all-get-out. Cuts the grass evenly and is easier to drag waaaaay back in the woods to trim the paths.

Besides, with gas prices what they are, it should pay for itself by next summer.
