Last night when I came home from the gym, my dog, Lake, was not breathing. I tried to rescuscitate him but he was gone. I believe he was running down the steps and fell, since I found him laying on the landing. Lake was 13 years old and in great condition... he still had some years to go. When I was right out of college and couldn't afford meds for him when he got sick, I ate bread and peanut butter for two weeks so I could buy them for him. I treated him like he was my child. He was the best dog I ever had.

That is so very sad. Losing a pet is like losing a member of the family IMHO. Hope you're taking some me-time today... {{{{{{big hug}}}}}}

Sorry to hear of it, Coma. I know how tough it is for the whole family. Sounds like he had a good life and did not suffer. All you can do is mourn and remember the good times. Good dogs make this hard time worth it.

I can't stop thinking about your pooch. I think it has something to do with my old boy being to the vets a bunch in the last two weeks for something fairly serious, but treatable and making really somber about dog stuff lately. Sorry again, man.

Sad to hear, sorry Coma, hang in there.
My dogs are near and dear to me; they like me no matter what, so I can imagine the loss. I would eat eat peanut butter sandwiches for a couple of weeks if it meant helping my dog with vet bills. You had a very sweet and moving post.
Take Care. I agree with the others; sounds like your dog had a good life and family.
I am giving my ole boy an extra hug and bath today.
