INWOOD - An Inwood man was shot in the torso early Monday during a home invasion involving two suspects, and police said a second incident took place less than 24 hours later on nearby Handyman Drive.

The first incident occurred just after 3 a.m. Monday at 348 Patrick's Court in Inwood, a residence off of Nadenbousch Lane. Berkeley County Sheriff Kenneth Lemaster said the victim, a 30-year-old man, was in the residence when the attack occurred. Lemaster said the victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the attack and was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.

The victim, Nathan Farley, called The Journal Tuesday evening and said he and his family had been sleeping when a loud noise woke them up. He said his wife went to check on their children when she saw two intruders and screamed. Farley said he ran out of his room and the men started shooting, and he was struck in the stomach.

"It was two guys with black ski masks," Farley said. "They shot at me ... and hit me in the stomach."

ok. Apparently these folks either don't know about our Castle Law, or they're those people who think : "Guns are baaaad" rolleyes.gif

If a loud noise wakes me up you can be darn sure that I'll have my shotgun before I'm out of the bedroom! Count on it! ( thats a warning to all the scumbags out there wink.gif )

It's time for America to stand up and stop being victims! mad.gif Take a class, get your gun registered, and protect you and your's for goodness sake!

When I read this sort of thing it just gets my bloomers in a bunch. 1) because of the low lifes that do this sort of thing and 2) the sheeple who just take it without even trying to defend themselves.

ok, rant over smile.gif

I had this conversation with my ex.

He had lived in apartments forever, in Htown, and NEVER locked his doors. He sometimes left his keys in his car. Stupid, I said. Me, mostly lived in country settings. I always locked house, cars, sheds, everything. I lived in a development when I gave him keys to my place, and he routinely left my doors unlocked which caused me to flip out. Our arguments got to the point where I said, "HEY! You will lock the doors because this is mine. Not yours. It's not up for discussion."

To which he ROLLED his eyes and labeled me "dramatic." Not so long after that, we watched "Bowling for Columbine," where Moore waltzed into people's houses with camera crew in tow and proclaimed that America was paranoid. "HA!" The ex felt justified.

We had this dumb conversation about how he thought nobody would bother with his apartment because he had nothing and I said that a lot of other people have less than you and want what you have! His apartment complex had some people claim some stolen things and then, AND THEN, I said, "since you have a key to my place, I should have one to yours."

His apartment has been locked up tight and sacred ever since.
