Indoctrination at it's best:

YES WE CAN
YES WE CAN

I just have to say that I am so glad that my youngest would have been 30 this year and I don't have to deal with the school system anymore! For one thing, my child would be absent that day. We'd probably go to a museum or something. And for another I think that this president needs to stop taking vacations and long weekends at camp david and do his damn job. without our children's help. He also needs to stop the campaigning and get to work. Thats all he's been doing is campaigning! I've never seen a man need so many vacations. geesh.
ArchAngel
Well, as a Fan of President Bush, I know he took mucho heat for taking vacations. Funny though, I don't hear the MSM saying a word about President Obama taking vacations, other than they are hard earned. rolleyes.gif
WVDragonlady
I wasn't a fan of Bush either. I can see taking a week or two once or maybe even twice a YEAR like some of the others here in the US, but come on! He just went to France on a vacation, and then it was MV, and now the long weekend. Get your rear in gear and get to work! Just SHUT UP and get to work. Get off the TV. This ain't high school and a popularity contest. Do your dayum job already.
Why can't he give this "talk" to the kids during primetime in the evenings when they're home with their parents? Why does it have to be during their learning time in school and away from their parents?
Seems to me that this white house is doing things a might on the sneaky/sly/back handed way. thought it was suppose to SO transparent? cha right. rolleyes.gif
Dig It All
Yes, God forbid our children hear the President of the United States say anything.

Sheesh.
ArchAngel
Hearing the President encourage children to stay in school and study hard is much different than listening to the President tell them how "good" he is.
ChipStewart
Oh, did you get an advance copy of his speech? I'd love to see it. How does it compare to the speeches that Reagan and Bush made to the school kids (or have we forgotten?).
Dig It All
Well thank goodness kids in Washington County schools did not have to listen to the president try to brainwash them with all his talk about staying in school, finding someone to help them stay on track, and accepting some of the responsibility themselves for doing well in school.

I shudder to think how that could have corrupted them.

Personally, I think all the people crying wolf are the problem, not the other way around.

maybe because THIS president has acknowledged communists and facists sitting their azzes in the white house giving him advice ( and they went thru no vetting process so we the people know exactly who and what they are). that might be the problem everyone is having with the "talk". I wouldn't be surprised if this "talk" wasn't changed at the last moment either.

sheesh it is. I see no reason why he couldn't give this "talk" after school during primetime tv when the parents are around to listen to it also.

ya know folks....Rome started out as a Republic.........

Well, the LAST president started a war for oil and we let him talk to students.

I agree some people are drinking the kool-aid but I don't think it's the people you think it is. I hear Russ Limbaugh is a fan of the grape flavor. wink.gif

You're BS'n me right? Thats a reason?  rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

I didn't agree with the war (still don't), and I didn't vote for the man, but that has got to be one of the most spacious reasons I have heard in a long time!

At least that president didn't have known communists, anarchists and fascists, telling him his policy. rolleyes.gif wanna talk about kool aid drinking holy crap batman! blink.gif unless of course you ARE one of those mentioned, then I can see why that wouldn't bother you........... wink.gif biggrin.gif

oh, and by the by, I don't like mr  Limbaugh and I don't listen to him so I have no idea what he likes ( and don't really care myself). apparently you have delved into his personal life enough to know what he likes so I'll take your word for it. *shrug* laugh.gif

You've mentioned this twice now, so we can't let this go unquestioned. Where, exactly, did you get this "fact" from -- Fox "News"? Is this a Glen "Obama-Hates-Whites" Beck statistic? C'mon -- give us names so we can form a Congressional committee and root them out, just like in the good old days.

And exactly what line(s) in the speech did you find subversive? Was it the part about taking responsibility for your own actions? Or the dangerous propaganda about hard work and perseverance leading to success? Maybe telling children that they can create their own future no matter their past behavior or life situation was a secret code for students to unite and defeat their evil overlord teachers.

I agree Obama hasn't done everything perfectly, but this was just another absurd stirring up of the masses over nothing. Maybe now we can start working on some REAL problems.

Well, the LAST president started a war for oil and we let him talk to students.

War for oil - hah - how lame... Dig It All apparently only digs a tiny fraction.

For anyone interested in digging a little deeper - as in digging into nukes, physics, and just how lame the"war for oil" bs really is, check out Lecture 10, Berkeley Physics for Future Presidents, Prof. Richard A. Mueller - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BHdsjo-NR4 That's right, Berkeley! Hehe - the school, believe it or not, has some non-Leninist professors biggrin.gif

Most of the lecture is about the physics, construction, and history, of nuclear fission type bombs but the good Prof. digresses into some other areas of expertise from time to time. Such as what we knew and when about the Iraqi uranium enrichment program. [Remember when Bill Clinton launched cruise missiles into the "baby food factory"? There was a reason for that and it wasn't that we wanted to cause starvation among the Iraqi baby population].

Of course, most of the folks that think we went to war in Iraq just for some Bush personal vendetta, or just for oil, or for some other Michael Moore type delusion, probably don't have the mental capacity or genuine curiosity to actually investigate for themselves the reasons and the evidence that motivated the decision. Talk about week-minded conspiracy theorists! Van Jones and Michael Moore aren't the only nitwits that believe Bush went to war just for oil and Bush was behind 911 and killed thousands just so we could go to war and Bush blah-blah-blah. It would probably be shocking if we knew the percentage of Democrats that believe all that idiotic non-sense.

...
ChipStewart
Of course it was hard to keep up with the rationale for the Iraq war since it changed so often. "The Iraqis caused 9/11, er no . . . . but they have WMD's, um well . . . . Sadam's a really bad guy . . . "
ArchAngel
See even you can't nail down all the bad things going on over there. laugh.gif rolleyes.gif
Dig It All
If you see a problem with the President of the United States encouraging children to get a good education...you are drinking the kool-aid. Period.

There are a whole lot of people more interested in seeing how loud they can yell than they are in getting information and helping fix some major problems that more than one former president left for us.

ArchAngel
Ah, the lack of Responsibility defense, got it. wink.gif
