At a recent soccer game leading up to the Olympics, the U.S. under-23 men's soccer team played to 2-0 win over Canada in Zapopan Mexico. The 1,500 Mexican spectators reportedly booed "The Star-Spangled Banner", booed U.S. goals, and then chanted "Osama!, Osama! Osama!" as our players left the field.
Now I can see them, after we knocked them out of qualifying for the last World Cup, perhaps going so far as to do the first two, simply being sore losers. But chanting for the terrorist whose lackeys murdered thousands of innocent Americans on 9/11? IMO, that's beyond the pale!
I know sports rivalries can get out of hand so, had it been only one or a small group of drunken spectators doing this, I could see it. But this is almost beyond belief!
