I plan on attending as many of the Suns' games as possible this year...anyone else gonna be there?
momsapilot
We'll be there. Even more than ususal if we end up getting a player through the host family program!

Folks,
My family is moving to Washington Co sometime in July. We currently live in Wicomico Co and have the benefit of having a Baltimore affiliate called the Shore Birds. We took our 5&4 year olds to a game at their stadium last year. They had a great time! Who are the Suns afffilated with and do they have activities for young kids?

I think the Suns play the Shore Birds. Anyway, the team is affiliated with the SF Giants. There is a nice little play ground, as long as you supervise the kids. Some of the older kids can be rough and rowdy back there. Our daughter is almost 9, and we had her 6th birthday party there. She was thrilled to throw out the first pitch. The mascot is always out roaming around and there are little contests every inning. Many evenings end with fireworks shows, a kid favorite.

We go pretty often...always sit on the third base side.

I hear they FINALLY got a new scoreboard this year !!!

They sure did.. it's manual, a throw back to the old days their going to have someone hanging up the numbers (runs) but they do have lights for balls and strikes. It will give someone a job for the summer.

How much generally are the tickets?
momsapilot
Adults are $6, kids are $5, box seats are $8. You can usually find a coupon for some sort of discount somewhere. Also, if the kids join the kids club, they get in for only a $1 (or at least they used to).

Finally got the home opener played. Too bad they lost. We have a pitcher living with us! Too cool!

Don't expect a fan friendly stadium like you are used to down there. The Hagerstown stadium is a classic old minor league park that is made more for baseball fans than children. There is really nothing that the owners can do about it because of the layout, property, etc. If you want a stadium just like you enjoyed on the Eastern Shore drive down to Frederick to Harry Grove and watch the Keys. Plenty of activities for kids and the playground, merry go round, etc, is well supervised and the kids can roam all over the concourse if they get bored.

Observer,
Thanks for the info. I had it in mind to see some Keys games, as well. I do think it is pretty cool that the Shorebirds play the Suns! It seems that there is a variety of activities for families in Washington Co and its environs. smile.gif
