With the four American civilians killed in Fallujah a few days ago, and the ongoing violence there this week does anybody else think it's getting out of control, Sen Byrd (D-WV) yesterday said that he thinks Iraq is Bush's Vietnam, I happen to think it's that bad, but it just seems like the Bush Administration just didn't plan the Iraq War as well as they should have. I'm convinced that we probably should have just stayed out!

Well, we really can't change what happened in the past. We are there now and need to stay until some sort of democracy takes hold in the area. Few weeks ago one of the news magazines (Newsweek or one of them) polled Iraqis and asked if they are better off before or after Saddam and 60% said they were better off without Saddam as other 40% said worse. I think it is just a few thousand Islamic extremist who want the Americans out of Iraq (Sadr and other Extremist Clerics). Plus, most of the surrounding countries are sending in jihadist to distablize the whole rebuilding process. Just yesterday they caught 2 jordanians entering the country to fight with the jihadists.
As far as it getting out of control, we have sustained less than 20 US casualties versus over 100 enemy casualties since the unrest in the sunni triangle. Now, each of those brave men/women who have died is tragic and I do pray for each of those peoples families. The coalition will have this under control within a week or 2 and I don't see any way that this is going to turn into a Vietnam. Back then we were losing close to 500(or more) of our boys a week. We've learned alot from our past in reguards to fighting guerilla wars.
Do I agree with the whole Iraq war? Yes and No. Do I support my troops? You bet your sweet *** I do!!
And I take anything Sen. Byrd says with a grain of salt. He hates Bush and would disagree with him even if the topic was about the sky being blue. Byrd needs to stick with what he does best, getting millions of pork barrel money into the state of WV.

I don't think it'll turn into another Vietnam either, but I do think it wasn't planned out well.

It will become another Vietnam, unless we take DEFINITIVE ACTION. Either win or lose and get the heck out. Let them sort out their own mess.
They left Saddam in power so long that we had to take care of him. We've done that, now let the people of Iraq do what they will. If they become a threat again, we'll smack 'em again. But until then, quit spending my money on the ungrateful... I think you get my drift.

I agree here too. I was totally for toppling Saddam, but I wanted the US to leave once we did and like BMIC said if they act up again come back full force. You see what the money we've spent on police in Fallujah have accomplished, The police were seen celebrating with the Jihadists after taking control of the goveners office.

I think maybe, and somebody here already said it, that a lot of the fighting is being fueld by other countries such as Iran and that most Iraqis are happy that Saddam is gone.

He stole that from Ted Kennedy who probably stole it from some other bleeding heart left winger...Kerry maybe?

Ted Kennedy and his ilk have all kinds of criticisms of the Iraq situation, but never put forth any plans or solutions on how to handle it better/differently. They just beat their partisan drums for political purposes.

I don't see why Kennedy has so much credit, and people treat him like he's some great and wonderful Senator. At least Senator Byrd appoligized for being in the KKK, did Sen Kennedy ever apologize for Chappaquidick.

Not yet - but you can be sure that's what the Demos are HOPING for.
Because let's face it: they've got nothing to offer except opposition to Bush. If they stopped beating up Bush, it'd be awfully quiet.

I think there's a split in the Democratic party, between moderate Democrats like myself, and you're California far left liberal Democrats. If the party doesn't get it's act together it's going to lose a lot of support from people like myself. Although I don't think the Democrats have a better plan than the Republicans for Iraq, and I don't see Sen Kerry doing any better job as Pres. Plus I think Kerry would pull the troops out of Iraq which would send the message, as we've sent before, that if things get tuff we'll just quit.

They just found four bodies of American civilians who had been kidnapped by these animals buried in shallow graves. I think that we will find that there is an increasing involement of Iran in this turnabout.

I think you're right Observer, Iran IMO is fueling fighting in Iraq. I just wonder if these horrible people really think that by taking hostages that we'll get out of the war.
