Can anyone give suggestions on a good pest control company? I have bees and ants...Lots of them. I know there's Erlich, but has anyone ever dealt with any companies in Hagersbutt? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Snoopy
I would steer waaaaay clear of Ehrlich. Heard too many horror stories.

Recently the Daily Mail did a spotlight on a guy who just started his own pest control business after something like 20 years working for others. He said his customers wanted him to go independent. Might wanna look into that -- maybe an archive search would find him.

Hagersbutt???? blink.gif

I'm not sure they're even in business anymore, but Paramount used to be very good. Okay just checked the phone book... Home Paramount. They've usually been the least expensive also.

Remember, there's only one letter difference between pets and pests! ohmy.gif

YES!!!! I HATE THEM!!! It wouldn't be so bad, but they get real irritated if you get around their houses in the WOOD. I have one that chases me everytime I go out there and I can't get him, he's too quick! They are SOOO plentiful this year! I killed a whole bunch yesterday too! I'll let you know what they say. I'm going to call Home Paramount (thanks Yoss)...someone else reffered me to them today. I'll let you know how it turns out! Until then...Keep on swatin' Greedy!

We used Home Paramount as well. Pleased with the service. We had a quarterly contract, think it cost $85 each time they came out. Good luck.

I don't think they can sting you (wood boring bumble bees).I swat them to the ground with my ball cap and step on them... smile.gif

My former boss built a log home and every summer he stands guard with his .22 pistol load with bird shot and busts a cap in 'em... smile.gif

Carpenter bees. Theres gobs of info about 'em on the 'net.

They're going nuts all around my barn/garage this past week. They seem particularly angry since I sprayed their nests/tunnels with wasp killer. Lots of dead ones on the ground all around, and lots of them buzzing all about.

Anybody else seen a major infestation? How did you deal with them - what REALLY works? I hate the buggers!
Heather
Are you guys talking "bumble" bees or what? I've never heard of bubble bees.

OH YES, HE HATES ME WAAAAAY MORE, I CAN TELL!! LOL! tongue.gif

It is probably a very funny sight! I take a fly swatter out there, (Maybe I should switch to a 2X4) and try to whack him, but then he swoops at me and freaks me out! LOL! biggrin.gif

Yeah, they are carpenter bees...AKA wood boring bees, whatever, I just know they are HUGE, crazy, kamakazi bees, and I have a ton of them!!

Just saw this on a website...

"Male carpenter bees are quite aggressive, often hovering in front of people who are around the nests. The males are quite harmless, however, since they lack stingers. Female carpenter bees can inflict a painful sting but seldom will unless they are handled or molested."

OH IT'S ON NOW KAMAKAZI MALE CARPENTER BEE!!! Oh, and don't ever MOLEST a female carpenter bee! LOL! tongue.gif laugh.gif

We have a spray bottle with a strong mixture of Dursban in it. I start out trying to get them with the fly swatter or a badmitton racket (the neighbors think I've lost my mind tongue.gif ), and when the bees get smart enough to move just before they connect with whatever I'm swinging (takes a day or two), I resort to the Dursban. You won't get rid of them all right away, but you will notice there's fewer of them after a couple of weeks.

"When some people say “locust,” they mean a cicada. However, when entomologists say “locust,” they mean a grasshopper. An example of this is the locust plagues mentioned in the Bible. When a brood of cicadas emerged a few years after the first white colonists arrived in the New England area, they thought these were the Biblical locusts, and the incorrect name stuck. When botanists say “locust,” they mean a kind of tree."

I perfer a wiffleball bat. biggrin.gif

Sorry, "cicada" then. When I was growing up my family always called them locusts, so it just stuck with me. I'll try to better...I promise sad.gif

I've heard both, I like locust better though. Not really sure why.
