I don't see the big deal with the slots, it would bring in lots of money for Maryland as it has done for West Virginia.

First, legalize slots. We had a referendum of sorts on this already via Ehrlich's win, so IMO the citizens have spoken. It is the lesser of the evils. Get it done.
The next option, though not in the poll, should be improving government efficiency/eliminating waste. This would probably not be enough by itself, but it should come before cutting services or higher taxes (or fees!).
Cutting services should be the third option.
Raising taxes should be the very last resort.

Kick out all of the gamblng and other addicts and organized crime figures and we won't need half the government programs we've got now!
We don't need slots - we need to get rid of all gamblers and other filthy addicts and the scum who support them.
P.S. - My vote for Ehrlich had absolutely NOTHING to do with slots. And he isn't getting another vote from me, EVER!

BMIC,
I think we should keep the clean addicts like Rush Limbaugh.

Most people that gamble aren't addicts BMIC, I myself have gambeled on cruises but I'm not addicted. As I've said before, look at all the churches that hold Bingo nights.

Hmmm this isn't getting quite the usual response from the rabid audience. Guess it's all been played out before. My opinion's already been stated clearly enough, and nobody's going to change it, in spite of all of their idiotic arguments against it.

I'll bite... I've been called an idiot before...
How you gonna do this? Shoot gamblers? Jail them? Exile the filthy scum to PA or VA? Bye-bye Constitution!
What other "filthy addicts" do you wanna get rid of, and what you gonna do with them?

In all honesty, my vote was "Cutting Programs".
I oppose any gambling in Maryland, including the State Lottery, because I oppose gambling in general and I'm a Maryland resident.
I do believe that our State should not be contributing to the problems created by gambling. We tax alcohol and tobacco sales, but I would likewise find offensive the notion that we should encourage more sales of alcohol and tobacco to help fill the State's coffers.
We could make a lot of money by legalizing and taxing psychedelic drugs, narcotics, prostitution . . . you name it. But I believe them all (gambling included) to be both morally offensive and counterproductive to a healthy society.
I've said as much before, and the debate is getting to be very tiresome. So I thought I would liven things up a bit.

but if you continually want big brother government to "look out" for you and provide services you have to pay..so I guess some people want taxes increased..not me...but someone...I voted to cut programs but then I am a old fashioned type--do it yourself...DONT ASK WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY...
