Well, I went to the WVDMV this weekend in Martinsburg and almost had to take out a small loan to get my title transfered from Maryland. The total cost was 498.00!! I was shocked when she said what the total was. We were in the building for 2 yes 2 hours to get all of our stuff situated. What a nightmare.
Now don't get me wrong, I love our new home and people down here in Berkeley Co but good god the public services around here stink to high heavens! Should we be expecting anything else to be bad service wise in the county???

Thank yourself that you live in Berkeley County b/c most counties in W Va don't have their own DMV's, in fact (at least it used to be) ppl in Morgan & Jefferson counties have to come to Martinsburg to get their driver's license and plates.

How is this different from the MD DMV?

Jefferson County is supposed to get a new DMV office this fall.
And I don't know what car insurance rates are in MD, but
if they're anything like VA, your in for a real shock when
you apply for WV coverage !!! The folks that bought our
house came from Winchester and their rates TRIPLED !!!
If you're renewing your registration next year, go to the
assessor's office in downtown Martinsburg and ask for a
copy of your personal property tax receipt...it never fails
that I don't have the right one with me, so I now ask for
copies 3 years back, just to make sure. Also, if you're
confident that you have all the paper work you need to
renew, the drive-up window takes mere minutes. Of
course, you could just mail the thing too, I suppose !!!
Welcome to Wild, Wonderful WV !!!

Well let me tell you. For one it was $200 less to transfer my wifes car from PA to MD. The wait was less than 30mins to get everything done. People were professional and made the transition pretty painless. Also, it wasn't crowded at the MD DMV. I have been to alot of different DMV's in my life and I have to say Maryland is one of the best. VA and WV are horrific when it comes to time your going to spend in the building.
I still love living down here.
