My wife and I were heading home friday night. When we came up on a
sobriety check point. I didn`t know we had so many police cars in this town.
Why does it take 12 cruisers and a swat van to stop people at 11:00 at night?
It looked like a major disaster with all the police running back an forth from lane to lane.
I think it would only take about 6 police men to do the job instead of what was there.
How do you feel about the check points and where they place them?
This one was on the West bound lane just below the 7-11 store on rt.40.

It probably takes so many cops because when they arrest a drunk, that means -1 more cop from the check point for paperwork, etc. Get a couple arrests and your checkpoint is worthless with just a couple of cops trying to run it.

As for opinion on it, The Supreme Court says they're OK, so who am I to argue? tongue.gif
Seriously though, if it takes me an extra 10 minutes to get home so they can catch a couple drunks and maybe keep them from hurting others or themselves, fine by me. Maybe the threat of the roadblock makes some drunk come to his senses and be forced to pay better attention in his/her drunken stupor to navigate around the roadblock to get home safely.

I remember a few years ago I was in Barracuda's and the state/county police had that same roadblock set up. The DJ at the bar kept announcing the checkpoint's location and all the drunks began franticly planning their alternate routes home.
