To start, I'm willing to pledge to 1000 shares. That takes us to 14,999,000 shares remaining.

FYI - for all you NFL fans, the Packers did this for their home field and to this day, the local government has no say in their day-to-day operations.

I would love to support this proposal, but realistically the people of Hagerstown would never be willing to do this. New things don't fly here, especially things that would give profit and fun to the area.

That was harsh...

Harsh but true

I do agree that this sleepy little town gets aprehensive when it comes to fresh ideas. I created this poll to see how this fresh idea would take. If any of you vote yes, I would like to see if how many "shares" you would buy into, even if it's one.

If it's no, I would like to know why (and don't give me the b.s. about the Suns aren't good or I'm an O's fan).

By showing private support, it would open up a whole new world of public funding support (Maryland stadium authority, Washington County Commissioners, etc.)

Also, to add to this I envision not only a Stadium, but little league playing fields (for lease at a small fee), a convention center (supported by a hotel; Mandalay???), and business offices.

I voted no just because I know I wouldn't buy any.

I'm in for 100, BUT that must include me throwing out the first pitch at games of my choosing and getting to light the fireworks. And some free beer tokens.
Biggins
I voted YES because I'm obsessed with baseball. At this moment in time, I could only contribute max 100 shares, but once I'm "on my feet" in a few years I'd pledge well over 1000 shares. It is THAT important to me.

Also, weekly dollar drafts and a nice skybox restaurant/bar.

Im in for a thousand but I'd at least want my first beer free at every game I attend biggrin.gif

I appreciate everyone's candor on the subject. Here's the scoreboard as of today: 4 Yes, 3 No.
Of the yes, 2200 shares are pledged (low ball estimate). That takes the share count available down to 14,997,800.

Biggins -- a skybox bar/restaurant is a good idea. We need to add that to the list (the minor league team near Knoxville has one of those).

Since I'm a beer man myself, I would definitely want some free beer to go a long with my investment. What I would work out is a couple of skyboxes available to shareholders at anytime with an open bar and buffet. Along with a shareholder first pitch at all home games along with the sponsor first pitch.

SMan - not sure about the fireworks thing, but I'm sure we can get creative as to how to get involvement in setting off the works. Don't know if any of you attended the game where the Suns attempted to do a 'Natural' time scenario to set off the fireworks. Didn't work out well, but I liked the idea.

I would try to coerce my hubby into 500 shares.

And I would lobby for good German or Belgian beer on tap!

Another scoreboard update! 5 Yes, 3 No.
Of the yes, 2700 shares are pledged. That takes the share count available down to 14,997,300. Let's spread the word to all the posters to offer their opinions!
