Just completed Angels and Demons (after reading the Davinci Code first). I loved this book. I thought it was a lot better than Davinci. The book flowed so much better than the Davinci Code.
Here is the premise: top scientist gets murdered by fanatical religions group called the Illuminati. The reason, the scientist created an antimatter energy source. The purpose of the murder is steal the antimatter and blow-up the Vatican.
Enter Robert Langdon, symbologist extraordinaire. When the scientist was murdered, he was branded with the symbol Illuminati. Robert's job is to assist the Vatican in the investigation of Illuminati threats to four cardinals that will be branded and killed within a four hour span from 8 pm until midnight culminating in the antimatter going off and destroying half of Vatican city.
Langdon tries to stop the murders by following the path to the Illuminati stronghold through clues that were left in ancient texts and art from the age of Bernini.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this book that you would not expect, which is why this book kept my attention. There was a certain level of anxiety and urgency throughout the book that I think Davinci lacked.
For those that go to read this book, I certainly hope you enjoy this book.
