Full Version: US Marine kidnapping hoax???

I heard this morning on the radio and read in the Washington Post that now the family is claiming that they have not heard from the "kidnapped" US Marine Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun. This contradicts a report/rumor that the family was contacted by the Marine and he indeed was in his native Lebanon.

Rumors are growing that Hassoun planned this elaborate hoax of a kidnapping to escape duty. His "unauthorized leave" on June 19 was changed to "captured" on June 27 when he appeared on television with armed men in the background holding swords to a blindfolded Hassoun.

The doubts that this was an actual kidnapping rather than an escape from the Marines stem from having no record of the terror group that "kidnapped" him and reliance on only their unreliable website that has been reporting on his status.

New terror groups are forming all the time and one of their first actions is to get a website to establish financial and propaganda channels, but IMO this seems like it could actually be an elaborate hoax to get out of the Marines due to the fishiness of the entire situation.

Just saw on the BBC World News where the Feds have him at the American Embassy in Lebanon. I would like to know how he ended up in Lebanon, and how he was able to escape from his group of Marines.

They think that he deserted and was picked up by his brother who is a truck driver. His family staged the kidnapping and video to gain sympathy and in the meantime his brother drove him out of Iraq, across Syria. and into Lebanon. Now NIS has him and the whole story will come out.
