What church do you recomend? I would like to know what churches are good.
Yossarian
I personally like the Kingdom Empire of the Holy Flamer and Troll. wink.gif

Seriously, are you looking for a "Church" or a religion? What do you expect from your beliefs? Fundamental or avant garde?

Lutheran? Catholic? Jewish? Muslim? Buddist? Mormon?

I find that the Lutheran or Episcopal churches are very welcoming when it comes to new members no matter who they are (unlike other Christian denominations). Both of which are formal, and are similiar to the Roman Catholic Church. If you're Baptist these churches would be the total opposites.

Victory Baptist in Boonsboro is great if you like traditional, conservative, basically fundamentalist independent Baptist. Excellent preaching with a generally upbeat message, and a very friendly membership.

Covenant Baptist in Shepherdstown is excellent if you're into a very contemporary, "seeker-oriented" experience but witha membership large enough that they have LOTS of excellent programs and activities, and plenty of in-depth study in a myriad of small groups. Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, but definitely not your typical S. Baptist church by any means.

Those are the two good ones I know of in the area.

You gave no denomination...

I've only attended a few, but since I'm United Methodist... I'd have to recommend a UM church in the area.

I agree, it's a great church, very welcoming & lots of good outreach programs & ministry groups! My parents are members there & I attended services there every Sunday when I lived in MD.

My wife and I recently joined. It's a bit of a shock for an old fundamentalist like me, but a welcome change from the VERY fundamentalist churches I have frequented over the years. Their exceedingly positive approach to every issue is refreshing.

THANKS!

It was VERY recent - We finally tied the knot at the Wash Co Courthouse last Friday. Back to work this week - then we're off to a cabin in the woods of further western MD for a week.

I'm Catholic and go to St. Ann's. Pretty content there, but a lot of staff and priest changes going on. Good youth programs.

I have a friend who goes to First Christian Church on Potomac. Sounds like a nice place, and I've even considered checking it out when I get annoyed with Catholicism.

I'll second that. I grew up going to that church.
