"To the caller complaining about off-duty police riding around in cruisers, it's called visibility and a deterrent. Someone thinking about committing a crime, like robbing you, decide to run away when they see a cruiser drive by, not to mention that the police could get help quickly if there is a problem even if they are not on duty."

So you should never get robbed at a soccer or little leauge game or school funcation...give me a break laugh.gif

Since officers have a greater potential of being shot by a thug or injured on a daily basis, I don’t mind if all cops are driving their cruisers during off-hours. Big deal...

Exactly, although they're likely wasting gas blah blah blah. I'd prefer them to drive their own personal civilian vehicles, but whatever. I will get a little ticked if he/she is speeding by me, tailgating, etc. when offduty in a cruiser. I have and always will speed up to their pace.
