I'd like to know of any Fall Festivals or Craft Fairs coming to the area this year. It seems to me most of the craft fairs come to Frederick Fair Grounds, but I'd love to know about the smaller ones too. Much of the time they're easier to get in & out of and have more local artists.

Boonsboro Days sounds cool, and it's not too far from where I live. Is it held at the park?

I hate the places that make you pay just to get into the place and look around, then charge you $3 for a hot dog. I think most similar festivals are free admission.

Colorfest in Thurmont is a really huge one that is loaded with crafts of all kinds. Its usually around the second or third weekend in September. If you take 77 over the mountain you run right into it.

I used to go to the Colorfest when I was a kid and it was nice, small and quaint. Now it overtakes the whole town! There are some great things there if you don't mind fighting the crowd. It's usually the 2nd weekend in October.

Canal days is pretty good also. Its not huge so you get lost in the crowd but its not a rinky dink festival either.

I went Saturday night. I didn't get there until about 7:00 pm - ate, drank, and last call was at 9:00. Next year I know to get there earlier.
But the food was good, as was the entertainment (German music). It's pretty small though. There are maybe 3 or 4 tents - including food and souvenirs. I had a good time, but that could also have to do with the company I keep.
