I'm really po'ed with NBC. They keep drawing out the most enticing events so far that I have to choose to either miss the dramatic conclusion or go through the workday like a total zombie!
As I heard this morning, Paul Hamm made an absolutely STUNNING comeback to take the Gold Medal in the men's gymnastics all-around competition, as shown on TV LATE last night. A competition that NBC certainly knew we would all be watching closely. But the way they set up their programming, I was falling asleep in my easy chair before they were even halfway through the competition! Same thing the night before with the women's gymnastics team competition!
I know that they do this to get the big ratings, but come on! Employers and employees alike ought to be outraged ... who can function at work after staying up until after midnight just because NBC is pulling this kind of stunt? Not I, nor a lot of other folks I've talked to at work this week.
I say give the customers what they want at a time when they can enjoy it. Quit giving us half the story by showing the conlusions long after bedtime! I won't even get into the shamefulness of this when we think of our kids wanting to watch the events. School starts next week, and we CANNOT have them staying up 'til midnight on school nights! So will they have to miss the best parts just because NBC is playing this ratings game? Probably so.
I missed what's being touted as the greatest comeback in the history of the modern Olympics, and the first ever gold medal in this competition by an American. I am NOT HAPPY!!
