I met Coma, CleverName, and Wildblue for lunch at the Stube today. I had never eaten there before and never met these guys in person, except for Clever yeasrs ago. Great food, and GREAT people, thanks for inviting me guys. I had the meatloaf with red cabbage and whipped taters. YUMMM Oh and the Bailey's cream cake for dessert, double YUMMM
Yep, a good time was had by all and I think it's safe to say that we were all fairly groggy the rest of the afternoon. Even WITHOUT doing lemon drops this time (I'm looking at you, Wildblue!)

I had the chef salad as usual, and the apple streusel, warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top. Wonderful.
golbblog, it's such a shame that your only experience at the Stube was a negative one. I remember you said the sandwich was greasy -- did you order the grilled tuna sandwich? Indeed it's pretty buttery and greasy from the melted cheese, but that's the way I like it. I'd suggest the meatloaf that Smokechaser ordered or the pork cutlet or a salad for less grease. Also, as much as I like their lunches, their dinners are even better. Pork medallions in a hunter sauce are excellent, as are the filet medallions in a wine and green peppercorn sauce.

I typically get the filet. Oh, and on Wed. night they have the slow-cooked pork shanks without advance ordering; my husband loves that. It's a massive chunk o'flesh, which is presented with a big old steak knife sunk into the center. Very manly fare (he has to stifle his grunts.) Good side dishes with it as well (bread dumplings, apple cabbage, sauerkraut).
Today's lunch will be family reunion food.

Yippy-freakin-skippy. Hubby made deviled eggs last night and "created" the filling from his head. It involved roasting some jalapenos in the grill with mesquite, then pureeing the result and adding it to the yolk mixture. I think it's gonna blow the minds of certain elderly relations this afternoon.
