( Hartford Courant / February 26, 2007 ) Alexander is an essayist, playwright, poet and university professor, according to Yale University. She graduated from Yale with a bachelor's degree. Alexander is currently the chair of African-American Studies at Yale. At the 2009 U.S. presidential inauguration of Barack Obama, Alexander recited the poem, "Praise Song for the Day," which she composed for the occasion. |
