( Ian Barrett / Reuters / June 9, 1993 ) Montreal Coach Jacques Demers holds the Stanley Cup following the Canadiens' 4-1 victory over the Kings in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. Demers, who won his only Stanley Cup in his first year behind the bench with the Canadiens, coached the team for three more seasons before being fired five games into the 1995-96 season. Now a Canadian senator, Demers revealed in a 2005 biography that he was illiterate for most of his life, a secret he managed to keep throughout his entire coaching career. |
