Joe and Nita McCormick of Falling Waters, W.Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains with their family.
While in Tennessee, the family surprised them with gifts, a steak dinner and an anniversary cake. Following dinner, they were treated to a DVD set to music, depicting a life in pictures taken through the years.
Accompanying them were their daughters, Marti Holnagel and husband Jim of Crestwood, Ky.; Margie Jarrendt and husband Royce of Clifton, Va.; Sherie Nigh and husband Brad, of Hagerstown and their seven grandchildren, Kyle and Drew Holnagel, Connor and Ryan Jarrendt and Bryce, Spencer and Kelsey Nigh.
The McCormicks were later joined by Mrs. McCormick’s sister and maid of honor, Donna Whitmore and husband, Sam of Athens, Ga., and a cousin who provided the wedding dress, Deanna Jennings and husband, Jimmie of Hagerstown.
Married June 17, 1961, at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Lexington, Va., the couple moved to Hagerstown, and resided there until 2001.
Mrs. McCormick is the former Juanita Penner of Hagerstown. A human resource professional, Mrs. McCormick recently retired from the City of Hagerstown.
Mr. McCormick was employed in the finishing department at MP Moller for 31 years and worked at Cavetown Planning Mill for 15 years prior to his retirement.
