An FM Global representative presented the award to Rochelle Morrell, executive director of Children’s Village, at the safety village campus at 1546 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown.
The award will be used to assist with fire prevention activities in the community, to help educate the community and reduce the number of fires.
Each year Children’s Village provides free fire-prevention/safety information and skills training to all Washington County second-graders.
Fire continues to be the leading cause of commercial and industrial property damage worldwide.
“At FM Global, we believe the majority of property damage is preventable not inevitable. We are pleased to make funding available to organizations, like the Children’s Village of Washington County Inc., that share the same philosophy,” said Michael Spaziani, manager of FM Global’s fire prevention grant program.
“Children come to Children’s Village as students, but leave as informed safety ambassadors, going into countless homes throughout Washington County sharing information and skills training that benefit our entire community,” Morrell said. “We are honored to be recognized by FM Global.”
Children’s Village is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free life-safety education to elementary school children in Washington County.
