Five reasons to lose weight now

If you’re anything like me, you may be a bit of a procrastinator. Most people procrastinate in one or more areas of their life. A common procrastination by people I meet is fitness.

It’s common for me to hear things like: “I wish I could,” “I’ve been thinking about it or “I know I need to, but ....”

It really only comes down to two things: a decision, and an action. Once you make the decision, you’ve won half the battle.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Find what you need in our Weekend Entertainment Guide newsletter.

Now all you need is some action. Let me help. Here are five reasons to begin your fitness plan now.

Cancer be gone

More and more research is emerging about the effects of physical fitness and cancer. Getting in shape can drastically reduce your risk of certain cancers, and may even help slow the progression if you already have cancer.

Super sex

People who are in good physical condition have more sex than people who aren’t. This is a no-brainer. Increasing your physical strength and stamina helps your performance and having a good body image gives you the confidence to be more adventurous as well.

Platinum golden years

Fit seniors tend to live longer, have more positive outlooks, and have less arthritis pain than their less fit counterparts. I have to stay strong, as I have two really cute teenage daughters who need a strong “boy barrier.”

Sleep it off

More fit people tend to sleep better. People who sleep better are less sick, more energetic and gain less weight over time. As much as 30 percent less, according to recent studies.

Climb the ladder

Overweight people, particularly women, earn less money and receive fewer promotions than more fit co-workers. Get more fit, and you’ll help yourself get ahead in your career, and make more money.

There are many, many more reasons to stop procrastinating, and get yourself into better shape.

I feel these five alone are worth the jump. Honestly, what are you really waiting for? What’s stopping you? Is it fear of failure? Is it lack of know how?

Or is it just good ol’ laziness? I’m willing to bet it’s just the fact that you haven’t yet found a motivator to action.

Hopefully one or more of the reasons I gave you gives you an “aha” moment and gets you to make that decision, finally stop procrastinating, and make it happen today.

You’ll thank me when ya do.
