The 2012
Holiday Card Drive for local troops serving in the Middle East continues through Tuesday, Nov. 20. Last year, 98 military members and their units were sent more than 116,238 cards.
To send your greetings, follow these guidelines:
- Remember each card may be read by many service members
- Cards may be homemade or store bought
- No envelopes or postage necessary
- All cards and messages should be appropriate
- Cards will be screened for security/sensitive issues
- Sign all cards
- May include messages of well wishes/support
- May request a pen pal

Donations for mailing costs/holiday candy, snacks and personal care items are needed and appreciated. Items that are allowed to be mailed are:
Food items — Snack crackers in packs, Tootsie pops/Blow pops, candy, instant coffee/tea bags, drink mixes, granola bars/snack bars, gum/holiday candy, peanuts/snack mixes in bags, beef jerky, individually packed cookies and snack bags, and Ramen noodle soups
Personal items — ;Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving creme, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, shampoo, body wash, aspirin products, cold/flu tablets (over the counter), lip balm and sunscreen
Other items — Puzzle books, playing cards, small size squirt guns, small size Nerf balls, disposable cameras, batteries (AA, AAA and D), new DVD's or CD's, writing paper, pens, envelopes, bandanas, hand-held games and non-aerosol bug spray
